Brief Update

Hi there,  just a brief update to let you know why my blogging has been sketchy in the past few days.  Grandpa is very ill and has been in the hospital.  Over the weekend we had to move him into a convalescent hospital, as he is unable to do much of anything for himself.  It doesn't seem that he will be able to continue living in his cottage, even with his full time caregiver.   He really needs constant medical attention.

Between spending time at the hospital, moving his belongings out of his cottage and so on, things have been pretty chaotic on the home front.  We hope he will be able to come home to us, but at this point things are uncertain.

I do have a couple of sewing projects that are calling my name, and hope to get back to them tomorrow.  With Grandpa being cared for 24/7, it does free up a good amount of my time, so I should be able to use it to good advantage.

    You’re right, having someone else caring for Grandpa and his new needs does provide his usual carers with free time. Enjoy this very welcome break as Grandpa hopefully mends.

  15. Poor grandpa, at least he’ll be under constant care so you don’t need to worry as much. Hope he gets better soon.

  17. Oh my Nichole, so sorry to hear about Grandpa. It gets to that point sometimes. I hope he gets well enough to come home. They do so much better when they are home. Although I know it will bring a lot of time and work on you and your family. Take care of yourself.

  21. I hope he feels better soon! It’s hard when this type of events happen. My husbands father is in a nursing home in Idaho as he did not want to leave his friends (although not many are around any more) and his home in Kellogg to move closer to us. He gets good care and seems relatively happy although his wife of 71 years passed away in May of this year. He turns 93 this week and has had a great long life.

  33. Nicole, I hope that Granpa is adjusting well to his new surroundings and that his health is on the mend. The old adage of “getting old is not for sissies” is so true.

  39. I am so sorry to hear about Grandpa’s poor health. Is he up to “get well” cards this time?
