I’ve had a bad cold this week. A really bad cold. The kind of cold that starts out as a scratchy irritation in the back of your throat, which in no time flat, grabs hold of your total being and reduces you to abject snozzelly misery. This particular cold has run rampant through every member of my extended family, which is the only down side to our custom of all gathering together each Sunday for dinner. One person, who shall remain nameless, had said cold two Sundays ago. One by one, at least a dozen family members have succumbed to its wretched ways.
I comforted myself this morning with a snuggle under my favorite cozy blue quilt, a cup of hot tea using my prettiest tea set, and best of all, a big old piece of hot buttered toast. It makes an appealing picture, doesn’t it? What you don’t see are the aspirin bottle, sticky cough medicine spoon, and the forty wadded up tissues overflowing the wastebasket. Never mind, the quilt was a comfort, the tea was restorative, and man, that toast was good. I feel better already.

You really should show more of that quilt. It is the sweetest thing.
Bleshoo.

How could you now feel better under that beautiful quilt and hot cup of tea in a sweet tea cup. Feel better, Nicole!

I just noticed that you’d added more pictures of quilts! Wow, wow, wow – they are all stunning! And, you’re right our tastes are incredibly similar. 🙂 I’ve never taken a picture of my Pansy Park – must do that!

Dear Nicole,
Have been in bed with a cold entertaining myself surfing the internet when I found your blog. Your blue & white quilt, hot tea and toast look so inviting. You are an inspiration. You remind me of Alexandra Stoddard, author of “Living a Beautiful Life”. My husband and I were fortunate to have visited Monterey several years ago. Absolutely breath-taking. I can’t imagine being fortunate enough to actually LIVE there. I live in Nebraska. The temperature here this morning was 2 degrees (wind chill -15 degrees). At least the weather is good for quilting.
I have some wonderful friends. We all walk and coffee together. However, they do not have any interest in quilting. One day one of them said, “you wouldn’t feel so old if you would stop doing old-lady stuff like quilting.” But, I do love it. I just don’t have anyone to share it with. Please tell me how you know about these projects and where you order the fabrics. The fabrics you have shown on your blog are WONDERFUL. Hope to hear from you.
Thank you for your blog.
Carol
