Conflicted

003

This weekend I worked on a little of this and a little of that.  I couldn't seem to figure out just what I wanted to do.  I am excited to make more pineapple blocks, so I started six more.  My alternate blocks for the Blogger Girls BOM are on my mind, so I worked on those.  Actually I spent quite a lot of time unsewing those, as I constructed the first round with the stripes going in opposite directions.

Stripes.Must.Go.In.Same.Direction.

How annoying. I constructed 19 blocks that had to be taken apart and redone.  That'll teach me to pay attention.  Consequently, I do not have a lot to show for myself today!

Hope you all  had a terrific weekend.  We had a little Cinco de Mayo celebration, which is always fun.  Eva entertained us all with her antics.  She is starting to put words together in the most entertaining way.  "Where Ah-ee?"  (Where's Ozzie?)  "Av aa?"  (Can I have that?)  Consonants seem to be eluding her for now,  but I can usually get the jist of what she is saying.  She is becoming her own little person, which is fascinating to observe.

  1. Sorry that unsewing was part of your weekend tasks. It was the same way here since I sewed a strip with the wrong side up. I took it to the ironing board, set the seam, and flipped it back to find myself looking at the wrong side of the fabric. Bother!
Isn’t it interesting that sometimes fabric direction or color or some feature just niggles at us until it must be changed? In a pastel Cabin in the Cotton quilt I made long ago, one deep lavender “log” yelled at me until it was removed. Had to be done.
So glad Miss E is enjoying life and that y’all are enjoying Miss E enjoying life!!
    Hugs!

Aren’t grandchildren just the frosting on the cake? Fun to hear about Miss E and how she is growing up. You are a lucky grandma.

  5. I understand unsewing those blocks! I don’t buy into the whole, “Oh, you’re the only one who will notice” thing!
    Conversation overheard:
    Eva: “Where Ah-ee?”
Grandma: “Oh, Honey, Ozzie is busy in the kitchen destroying your newest sippy cup. Unless he finished with that. Then he’s in the bedroom shredding some of my cutest shoes.”

  7. That’s so frustrating to take out all those blocks but little Eva makes up for it! Kids are so much fun at that age. So fun when they are learning so much. Enjoy! Your blocks still look awesome, by the way! 🙂

  9. They seem to create their own language don’t they? My granddaughter calls scissors, nippers – don’t know where she got that but she still calls them that and she’s 2 1/2!

  11. Too bad about sewing your blocks wrong and having to take them out! Good for you that you noticed now instead of later though!
