Cupcake

These are some of the fabrics in our Buggy Barn/Carrie Nelson class kit for the quilt she thinks she is going to call "Cupcake".  She originally planned to name it "Drumbeat" (I can’t remember why–something about marching to a different drummer) and her friends told her that was a terrible name and that she should go with "Cupcake" instead.  The pattern has not been published yet, so I can’t show you the pattern photo of the finished quilt top.  The quilt is an easy one, made up of nine patches and hourglass blocks.  The nine patches are in shades of red, green, pink, burgundy and brown.  The hour glass blocks are supposed to be tan and light blue, but I didn’t like the sugary sweetness of the blue and pink combination.  So my hourglass blocks are going to be tan and chocolate brown.  My brown prints have a touch of pink or red flowers in them, so I think they work with the colors in the nine patch blocks.  This one should go together quickly, so I hope to show you my finished version soon!

  1. Hey – I know that quilt! lol It will be fun to see your version with the brown hourglass blocks. I’m going to stick with the blue – what’s a little sugary sweetness? Hmmm?

  3. The photo is so yummy. The colors are so gorgeous and warm, it looks like it’s going to be a great project. Cupcake sounds like a good name too – a bit more feminine.
