Cute Holiday Book

Holidaze

For those of you looking for a cute book set at Christmas time, you might like In a Holidaze by Cristina Lauren. I got the Kindle version, and just finished it this week. It was a fun, quick read, featuring a character who is in a time loop, kind of like the movie Groundhog Day. Mae is 26, and has for her entire life, vacationed at Christmas with her parents, brother, and dear family friends. They traditionally go to a cabin their friends own in Park City, Utah. Mae is crushing hard on one of the brothers of the family they vacation with. She has loved him from afar since she was a teenager, but he seems unaware of her, except as a family friend.

Mae is working a dead-end job and has had to move back in with her parents in Berkeley.  She is depressed and feels she is a failure. In the book, while she is in Utah at the cabin, she makes a decision she regrets. Full of despair, she asks the Universe what she must do to find happiness. The vacation ends, and while she and her family are heading home to California, they are in a car crash. Mae wakes up and finds herself on a plane headed for the vacation she just had. She repeats the vacation up to the point where she made a bad decision and gets to move on, hoping to ignite some romance with the brother she has always loved. She makes another bad decision, and guess what? Yup, she ends up on the plane again, heading back to start the vacation again. Will she ever get things right and find happiness? Or is she doomed to repeat the vacation over and over forever?

The book is Christmassy, romantic, and just spicy enough to be fun, but not embarrassing.

I enjoyed it!

I've been so busy with decorating and having family over.  No time for sewing. Eva and I got back into the swing of homeschooling yesterday, which was good for both of us. Hope you are all well, and enjoying the last month of 2020!
