Daffodil Day

In Ireland, March 23 is National Daffodil Day.  I was in Ireland in March six years ago on Irish National Daffodil Day, and was entranced by the sight of so many daffodils everywhere.  Is there anything that says "Spring!" as well as those particular flowers?  As we headed off on our day’s tourist adventures, we noticed that nearly every school child had arm-loads of them as they walked to school in the morning.  How I envied those lucky teachers who would receive such pretty tokens of affection!  In the larger cities, daffodil boutonnieres were for sale on every street corner, evidently a long running successful fund raising effort by the Irish Cancer Society.  I have my own little pot of daffys sitting on my dining room table and every time I pass it by, I recall that wonderful day in Ireland six years ago.

(Note:  I am on vacation until April 5 and won’t be able to respond to your comments until then).
