I got the rows of Message in a Bottle all connected and got it off the design wall. I will show you a picture of that once I get the borders on.
When you take a project down from your design wall, does it drive you crazy that there are a gazillion little threads stuck to it? Makes me twitchy. Sometimes I take the lint roller to it, and go through three or four sticky rounds before the wall looks halfway clean.
Added later: Jane told me about this interesting technique to clean a design wall using freezer paper and an iron! Check out this link to see how: http://www.thequiltshow.com/os/blog.php/blog_id/5433
What you see there on it is Long Road Home, in the process of being arranged. I had so many fabrics in this kit, I haven't run into having the same two fabric touch yet!
I am enjoying the dark red setting triangles. When I sew my diagonal quilt rows together I tend to sew four or so rows together at a time, and connect the sections later. I really like how fast this quilt comes together. A quick sew once you get it cut out.
Be sure to check in tomorrow for the third block of the Blogger Girls Block of the Month. Super cute blocks, and such fun to see what everyone else is doing.

This is coming along quite nicely and very striking colors. I hate all those threads on design walls and wonder if there is some tips to keeping them off? I have used the roller too and quite time comsuming….

Nicole,
I am a member of the online website “The Quilt Show” and just last week Ricky Tims showed how to take threads off our design walls. Use freezer paper and a hot iron. It works great.
I love your Message in a Bottle Quilt. I am going to have to put it on my list to make one too.

Those setting triangles really make the rest of the quilt pop.

It’s amazing what a difference the red setting triangles make to the look of quilt. You have another fabulous one here.

It’s been great following the progress of this quilt. I’m fond of nine patches and scrappiness, even if scraps weren’t employed. This one is going together fantastically and Message in a Bottle is a beauty as well.

Nicole the Whirlwind is at it again! Look at what you’ve accomplished in getting this quilt mostly together in a week. Love the dark red setting triangles and the wonderful array of fabrics in all their scrappy glory.
Applause, applause!!!
Hugs!

wowsa! This piece is really turning out gorgeous. I love those setting triangles but I especially love how the variety of creams give the quilt dimension. Fantastic job.

I have got to get myself a design wall! Or rather, I have got to get my husband to make me one. Laying blocks out on the bed just doesn’t have the same visual effect – and it hurts my back! Love this quilt in progress x

I absolutely LOVE this quilt, but one thing is driving me crazy. My eye keeps going to the right side of the quilt where the solid blocks seem darker than the left side. Is it the camera or the lighting? That red just makes this quilt…I want one!!!!

Love the blocks. And those red setting triangles really set the whole thing off. Wonderful. Can’t wait to see more.

Looking good. I, too, love the red setting triangles. Really spices up the quilt!
What a fabulous tip from Ricky. I gave up trying to keep by design wall clean years ago. It is a hugs MESS. Once I take down my Civil War Diary blocks I’m going to give this a try!

Nicole,
JUST got all of my kids out of the house long enough to believe that they will STAY out of the house and so I finally have taken over one of their rooms for my very own quilting space! I bought the stuff to make a design wall and will put it together soon (before I just had to lay blocks out on my bed…sad!). Can’t wait to feel “twitchy” for the first time!!!
Keep up the beautiful quilting, the wonderful grandmothering, and the excellent elderly-caretaking!

Go Nicole Go!!
Did you blog about what your design wall was made of? If so I must have missed it.
My Hubby made mine from a sheet of 1/2 inch styrafoam insulation/siding from Lowes. I just wrapped it with batting and taped it to the back… About $12.00 if I remember right.
