Eventide on Crack

No, I have not completely lost my mind.  I have been working diligently on my Eventide Ohio Star blocks.  Seriously, I have.  Really.

The blocks in the photo above are not my Ohio Star blocks for Eventide.  I was rummaging around in the dresser in my sewing room and rooted out these leftover "reject" blocks from a blended quilt I made about three years ago.  I made tons of blocks for that quilt, and ended up using just the most neutral of them.  These more colorful blocks never made it into a quilt.  This is the quilt they did not make it into:

I guess you can see why.

But look:  they are all the exact same block–Ohio Star.  And the same size as the ones in Eventide!   See the two blocks, side by side.

Cool, huh?  Maybe I can use them on the back of Eventide?  They need to be in a quilt I think!

  1. Oh yes they need to be in a quilt. If you have enough of them why not put them on the back. I think it would be awesome.

  3. A “found” quilt – how cool! With some sashing and a border wouldn’t they make a cute charity donation quilt for some little girl?

  5. What a wonderful find and definitely should be used. I believe I would take the opportunity to make two quilts. Maybe the second one would be smaller, but completed. Judy C

  7. I would definitely put them into their own little quilt. I love the neutral quilt! I’m working on a neutral one called French Farmhouse. I’ve always wanted to do one….
    Blessings…

  9. What a delight to find hidden treasure in your sewing room!! The left-over blocks are beautiful and I agree they need to be in a quilt. Perhaps in a very lovely baby quilt?!!
I’m currently using my found blocks and bits in itty bitty quilts for the Alzheimer’s Quilt Initiative. So far I’ve made 7.
    Hugs!

  11. Those blocks are too pretty to put on the back! It looks like you’re just one block short of being able to make another one of the same pAttern as the neutral one.

  13. I LOVE that neutral quilt, and love neutral quilts in general. Eventide was supposed to be my quiet quilt, but I just can’t keep myself from adding bright colors, maybe another time, another project.
Those blocks need to be the front of a quilt, not the back!

  15. You can use those in a modified version of Ginger Belle too, I think. Solid center instead of Miss Rosie’s 4 patch center.
    What a beautiful neutral quilt!

  17. What a fabulous find! They definitely need to go somewhere – maybe their own quilt like some have said above. Nice muted colors that have a calming effect.

  19. What pretty blocks! I say you make some of the large quarter square variable blocks to make an Eventide mini! It would be really pretty in those pinks and greens…Springy too!

  21. Just add some other blocks of the same size, either plain or with magic corners and you have another quilt done! Beautiful!

  23. Your “found” blocks are lovely, can they mix in with this new project? Border? Table runner? I LOVE your W.Ways in the blues! Gorgeous.

  25. Those blocks play well with your Eventide blocks! Your blended quilt is beautiful by the way and I can see why you didn’t use the busy blocks… it looks so soothing the way it is. You could just make Eventide larger:) with those blocks.. although they kind of look like they need something queit between them.
