Our family Halloween party has been derailed for a few years due to COVID-19, but we planned a big one for this year. It was very nearly canceled at the last minute due to a life-threatening health crisis a family member is suddenly and very unexpectedly dealing with. Prayers and good thoughts are welcome.
One of my sisters is a very talented decorator and also a master at creating things out of paper. She made this invitation pictured above herself! Actually, she made a ton of them to send out to family and friends. In addition, food had been purchased and prepared, and family was flying in from South Carolina, Washington, and Oregon, so we decided to go ahead with the party. It's a very big deal, I am telling you, and we did not want our sister's efforts to go to waste.

These bookcases had recently been emptied, and the books were replaced with Halloween vignettes. Enlarge the photos to see the details.
This table vignette has a raven, a skull, a portrait of Edgar Allen Poe, and an antique typewriter with the first couple of paragraphs from his poem The Raven actually typed out.
Spooky holographic photo gallery in the foyer.
This type of decor was throughout the house, in the living room, bathrooms, and outside. I didn't get photos of everything, but you get the vibe. I'm telling you, my sister has amazing creativity.
The food table was out of this world.

Lastly, here's me as a sunflower in a pot. I made a pretty minimal effort this year I am afraid. I kept sitting down to talk to people and getting my pot all bent out of shape.
And that's a wrap on the family Halloween party. Sometimes when misfortune happens, the best thing is to get together with family.

The decor is spectacular!! Even the skeleton on the fridge. Not to mention the food. Those are some festivities if they fly in from so many places. What fun the costumes are. No character portrayals for Archie!? My wire would be barking up a storm at all the trick or treaters and trying to escape the front door… no costumes for him!
