Five Pounds Makes a Difference

IMG_2621

My husband and son are off on vacation together this week in Palm Desert.  Since I have no one to cook for,  I am making the most of the week by going on a diet.  Five pounds is all I ask.  Yes, ten would be better, and fifteen a complete miracle.  But I will settle for five.

Five pounds makes a difference in how one's clothes fit.  Truly.  Waist bands that ride comfortably start to pinch and little rolls of flesh appear out of nowhere.  And what on earth is happening on my back?  Those rolls of flab above and below the bra band cannot have been there five pounds ago.

So the five pounds must go.  It is my Spring Gift to myself.  After I eat my way though all the Weight Watchers frozen food this week, I will go back to my normal Weight Watchers Point counting regime.  That program isn't quick, but it works.  As a major bonus, if you learn any good habits on the program, which you SHOULD, the weight does not come back.  Except for that five pounds when you aren't paying attention.

I lost 30 pounds on Weight Watchers three years ago, and have kept off 25.  The thing is, I stopped the program when I was about 10 pounds short of my goal.  So, I figure now, I need to lose fifteen pounds.  That isn't such a big number.  Not nearly as scary as 30 was!  I know I can do it.  I will take it in five pound increments.  This week is my start.

Wish me luck!

  1. Well 1st… CONGRATS!! on having the courage to take the first step (buying and having healthy food on hand). I for one, know how hard it can be to go into the grocery store and walk out with the items on your list only (assuming the food on that list is all healthy food).
And 2nd, I wish you all the luck in the world!!! If you truly know what you want and have the will power to do it, then you can loose, not just the 5 pounds, but the entire 15 pounds in no time!!!

  3. You go girl! I actually added a 20 min. walk to my day and it’s amazing how my metabolism went a little faster. I felt better too! Good luck!

  5. Good for you! I wish I could send my hubby off for a week. Not having to cook would help a lot, I think. Why do we feel we have to cook these big meals for the man in our life? He could stand to lose a few pounds too!!

  7. The meals look good and it’s so much easier when you don’t have to worry about cooking for other people or have them eating things you might want to have. Good luck and congrats on the 25lbs.

  9. Good luck! Five pounds should be easy. I wish I only had to lose 5! I am back on Nutrisystem, it works if you follow it. But I do think WW is the best.

  11. Good luck Nicole…I know you can do it. I find it much easier to eat less when I am home alone, matter of fact, I rarely get hungry and have to remind myself to eat most of the time, but I could stand to drop about 4 lbs too. Some of the meds I’m on keep the weight on me, yuck but I could still eat healthier. One thing that always helps me to cut back is sewing. I lose all track of time. So I’m thinking between your motivation, smart food choices, your quiet time and some great sewing time, you can’t help but exceed your goals. If you listen really hard, you can probably hear us all cheering you on!!! Keep us posted.

  13. Good luck Nicole! I’ll be sending good vibes your way….I lost 45 pounds about 6 years ago via my own modified WW plan and have kept it off – it wasn’t easy, but I’m so much happier! And yes, it was those little rolls of flab under and above the bra band that did it for me!
    Cheers!

  15. I’m right there with you except my hubby and son are still here. Have to do it around them! But I’ve been on WW since last June and am right there at 40 lbs. gone! Still have 15 to go but that will take me to lifetime (and a lifetime of accountability, which is what I need!). You can do it!

  17. Those 5 pounds don’t stand a chance! Go get ’em! Sounds like a perfect week ahead, too; no cooking, lots of sewing. Good luck and have fun, Nicole!

  19. Way to go, Nicole! I am so proud of you. I need to get some motivation myself. I wish I lived near you. I would just do everything you did. If I didn’t, you could hit me with a stick!!!

  21. Oh goodie. I’m now trying to loose 10 lbs. so I will be working it along with you. One question, however, what happens to your nifty coffee shop treats and the weekly baking of breads??? My problem is 18 grandkids and birthday cupcakes. Any tips???

  23. Go, Nicole! I guess this is the end of the breakfast breads a week campaign, right? LOL. Seriously, best wishes for a successful goal!
