Our dear friend Susan of Blackberry Creek lost her beloved husband Vann today. Mere words are not enough to provide the comfort my heart desires to give, but it is all I have. This poem by Raymond Carver gave me some solace after the death of my mother. Susan and family, please accept this offering from my heart.
Late Fragment
And did you get what
you wanted from this life, even so?
I did.
And what did you want?
To call myself beloved, to feel myself
beloved on the earth.
