French General Giveaway!

I don't know what I am more excited about–this giveaway or the fact that the incomparable Kaari Meng from French General read my blog!  Evidently one of my enthusiastic raves about her new fabric design Rouenneries came to her attention, and she emailed me to say that she would like to contribute a couple of items for me to give away in her name on my blog, was I interested?

Was I interested?  Is this not the most fun thing ever?  I am totally star struck over this gorgeous fabric collection.  I emailed her back to say I would be thrilled to host a giveaway for her.  So this week, a box arrived from French General with two cutely tissue wrapped packages and a sweet card from Kaari, saying "Thanks for spreading the word"! 

So here is the dilemma.  Don't you want to see what is in the packages?  Don't you?  I thought so.

A Honey Bun of Rouenneries and two charm packs!

Many of us agree that this fabric is the most exciting thing to hit the quilting world in some time.  I would like to hear from you just why this fabric collection is so appealing.  Comment on this post and the honey bun will go to one lucky person and the two charm packs to another.  (If you are doing the Year of Schnibbles project, just imagine what you could do with these charm packs!)

I will do the random number drawing on Thursday night 9:00 PM PST, and post the names of the winners on Friday morning.

    Because its fantastic.. think its the old worn look that speaks to me.. I love old wowen fabrics… and this is it.. and with a touch with flowers..:o)) And Oh yes.. I am doing the Schnibbles… and I have already thought of using it.. would look fantastic ..dont you think!! :o))

  33. This is probably my favorite fabric collection of the season! Why? I love red, it’s vintage looking without looking stuffy, it’s elegant, and everything in the line goes together. I’ve already got 2 projects planned for it – and I never do that!

  75. I am absolutely in love with French General and the new Rouenneries line. Why? It’s the red. It is the ultimate, perfect, most beautiful red. Not bright, not orangey, but almost an antique cranberry. I want it in a quilt, so that I can wrap myself in that color in the doldrums of February in New England. *swoons*

  123. Those colors remind me of fall and christmas all in one. Even though I’m not celebrating, but it reminds me of those years we were staying in Madison back in the early 80s. I wish I could bring my whole family there and experience it again (but then the environment might have changed too much to my liking).

  159. This really is lovely fabric! I love the 1800’s-country-yet-sophisticated feel. And it’s amazing to me how those colors work so perfectly together…that’s the genius of it. It would never occur to me to pair rich reds, pinks and dusky/pale/muted greens like this. It really is perfect!

Like someone else said, you could use it for wallpaper or upholstery or whatever. Plus it has birds! I’m extemely fussy about color and these are exquisite. Excuse me I’m rambling and I think I’m drooling…..

I imagine a quilt done in only ticking stripes like an old patchwork quilt that you’ve had in your family for years and then there’s another coordinating patchwork quilt that just happens to match the ticking stripe but done in the wonderful patterned fabric. A sewing machine cover and coordinating accessories like the 1892 pin cushion for the sewing room. Oh, the possibilities……..

  233. Lucky you! You (and lots of other folks) are correct – this fabric line seems to be extremely unique in that as a collection, it’s cohesive, but each print can also stand on its own in a project. Thanks for hosting a giveaway and being willing to share the goods!

  239. I love the soft play of colors that previously were considered unmatched. The greys and creams and tans, and then the soft reds with the bright reds. Red and cream have been a favorite of mine, but now added in with grey and tan, and they are just the prettiest thing out this fall.

The color combination is timeless and the wonderful diversity of scale and texture makes this line by French General definitely one of my all time favorites!
