Getting Things Done

The school year is winding down with a bang rather than a whimper. Eva was in a school play over the weekend, which was jolly good fun. "The Enchanted Bookshop". She had two roles, Little Red Riding Hood and The Lady in Red. You can see her singing her little heart out on the right in the photo above.

By Sunday, I was absolutely exhausted, done in, good for nothing. All I wanted to do was sit in my chaise lounge with my book, and even then I nodded off. Before I was down for the count I did make a bat block for my Midnight Moon Quilt Along project. Designer April Rosenthal put out a free 8 1/2" bat block as a special bonus last Friday. Since I am making 6 1/2" blocks, it didn't work for me, but I loved the idea of adding a bat block in.

I found a downloadable pattern on Etsy.com for $6, and you can see in the photo above, that it turned out really cute.

It did have just a few pieces. lol

Now, I have to go lie down again.  Hope you had a great Mother's Day weekend.

  1. Looks like Eva is going to be a tall young lady! I think your bat is cuter than the designer’s. Her wings look out of proportion. Last year I made the It’s Sew Emma Halloween quilt from the previous year and it has the same large bat.

    I saw the bat block setting on the doily and was trying to figure out how you inset the block into the doily…
    I even had an idea on how to use it that way… then I took a real close look and saw my mistake!!
    Still a neat block but so Goth set into a bit of lace don’t you think?

  7. What a fun experience for your Eva! I think the end of the school year is busier than the Christmas holidays…plays, concerts, team parties, auctions…makes me tired all over again! Good job, Gran!

  10. Eva looks like she’s enjoying her part in the school play! Following on the ‘tall’ comment above, I think your blog will have a fun collection of photos of Eva from the very beginning of her life once she’s grown up! The lace background is perfect for that bat! Maybe you could find fabric with a lace motif?
