Good Things Come In the Mail

I received a package in the mail this week from someone special, for whom I do a bit of stunt sewing from time to time.  I don't know how wise it is, but she rewards me before I actually do any work for her.  This is what was in the box:

Oh so pretty, but I mustn't get into this until I receive my instructions.  This is the fabric for the top secret sewing project I'll be working on.  I tell you, I am tempted to set this aside for myself and claim the box was never delivered, but that would just be wrong.

Another hot off the looms, not yet in stores goody.  Breakfast at Tiffany's by Fig Tree.  This looks like a rolled up layer cake, and would be perfect for a Schnibbles of the Month project.

Be still my heart.  An entire bundle of Lumiere de Noel by French General.  Look at that assortment of lights!  I must come up with exactly the right project for this group of fabric.  Have any of you made things from this collection yet?  I would love some ideas.

Can you even guess what this is?  I had no idea, but when I saw it, my thought was how perfect it would be for holding a spool of that invisible thread the next time I do some machine quilting.  Better than the coffee mug I usually put to use.  And I was close in my guess!

It is a cone spool holder made by Paul's Metal Petals.  Check it out!  I bet you need one too!  You can install a huge cone of thread in it and sew for the next year.  Isn't it unique?  I love it!

  1. Good things definitely do come in the mail or if you’re lucky, like me, you drive across town and pick up all the good things. 🙂

  3. Oh! I think I might swoon!! I am in love with the Maison line! I can’t wait for it to arrive at store because I am picking up a full FQ bundle of that one. My sister owns an online quilt shop and ordered some of the precuts for Breakfast at Tiffany’s, so that is another line I am soo excited to arrive at shops. Fig tree’s line of patterns for this season are wonderful, gotta get me some of that too! LOL! Don’t get me started.
How do you like that thread holder? I have been eying it because it is just gorgeous but I keep thinking that a) it’s short and b) the petals might get in the way of the thread. What are your thoughts? Am I completely off?

  5. Fabric that beautiful serously need to be fondled. Oh, just gorgeous. I can’t wait to see the finished secret project. And the cone holder…I’ve had one for 6 months now and I love it. Toss in some Superior Threads Masterpiece pre-wound bobbins and my oh my, smooth sailing!!! Enjoy…If you haven’t tried Masterpiece thread, you should. It is so fine, fuzz free and strong, that I can use a very small needle, 70/10 or even 65/8. I get the sharps and the seam is just beautiful.

  7. Oh just gorgeous Nicole! I’ve splashed out on the Lumiere de Noel line too – it’s gorgeous, but I’m looking at it and thinking, ‘now just what am I going to do with you?’ I’m sort of wondering if it might need a little extra darkish brown to give it some umph. I’ll certainly be looking out to see what other people are doing with it. Don’t you just LOVE reds….!

  9. Oh!!!!!!!!!! Calorie-free yummies!!!!! The fabrics are wonderful, each and every one. If you could only have some of every fabric, where would you put it all?
Love the cone thread holder, too.
Score for you!! I’ll eagerly await photos of what you make from these fabrics.
    Hugs!

  15. That Miss Rosie sure knows pretty fabric doesn’t she? I own some of the Breakfast at Tiffany’s and it is speaking “Elizabeth” at this point, but I never know for sure until my rotory cutter comes out. Which of your new fabrics are for the secret project and which ones are yours to play with?
