Happy Valentine’s Day!

Eva's Valentine cookies
Eva and I wish you all a very happy Valentine's Day. We had fun decorating some cookies which she will share with her girlfriends at school today.

Eva made cookies
Of course, she had to taste one, and said they are A-OK.

Mercantile block 5
After my big Flea Market finish, I wasn't in the mood to tackle anything huge, so I sewed the Mercantile block 5, which turned out pretty cute.

Apple Sauce sq in a sq border blocks
I also made a few more of the square in a square paper pieced blocks for the border of the Apple Sauce quilt I have nearly completed.

Apple Sauce ABB
You all remember that one, right?

My husband took me out to dinner to celebrate Valentine's Day. We went a day early to avoid the rush. Our favorite Italian restaurant closed during COVID but has recently reopened and is better than ever.

Valentine's dinner
We had the most delicious and romantic dinner and can't wait to go back again for our anniversary in April.

Hope you have a lovely Valentine's Day with your sweetheart. If you are on your own, I hope you do something special for yourself!

  1. Happy Valentines day – and thank you Eva too, nice cookies indeed and you absolutely must do a taste test at least once, twice if you aren’t sure! LOL. We don’t do this day – our anniversary is in a few days so HRH weaseled out of a double whammy!
The square in a square blocks are looking good.

  7. Yummy looking cookies! We don’t celebrate Valentines because our anniversary is the 4th. But that’s OK! I put out all my heart quilts at the beginning of the month to enjoy the whole month.
I really need to get the papers for square-in-a-square. I spend too much time on them otherwise.

  10. Eva did a great job decorating her cookies! Her friends will love them! I agree that your Block 5 turned out really cute! Your Valentine’s dinner sounds delicious…especially since we no longer have an Italian restaurant in town. Happy Valentine’s Day! 💘💝

what is the appetizer on the table? it looks like tortellini? was it good?

  19. Happy Valentines!! Dinner sounds lovely. Great progress on the quilt squares. And the cookies are perfection! I hope her skills are appreciated. I cooked my husband and son a Valentine dinner on Monday. Today was WORK – as a music director I had three Ash Wednesday services. I did go to a nice event at a local tea shop last night with my daughter. Their owner/master tea smith had a sampling of three of their teas – one brewed with coffee (I love both but not sure how I liked it together), one as an elegant spritzer and the other straight up normal. Each paired with food. She discussed what she made those blends from and what their medicinal properties were. Fascinating.
