These are a few fat quarters of Joel Dewberry's latest collection "Deer Valley". He designs for Free Spirit and this is the Azure line from the Deer Valley group. There are two other color ways called "Persimmon" and "Tarragon". OMG. Really really pretty fabric. Check it out at fatquartershop.com.
I am not sure how I will use this fabric group, but I do know that I want to emphasize the fantastic prints. Do you have any suggestions for patterns that would be appropriate for those times when you just can't bear to cut your fabric up into teensy bits?
On the subject of breakfast, I have to say, my first day didnt' go so well. I have a firmly entrenched habit of having my dear husband bring me an insulated Starbuck's cup full of freshly brewed coffee as an incentive to me getting up out of bed. I have to convince him to bring my that first cup in a bone china cup. Then, I think I could maybe head for the kitchen and concentrate on fixing myself a bit of breakfast. Instead, I stagger to the computer with my car cup and log into my email. Tomorrow is another day.
I have something that I am selling on eBay, that is just sitting there with the lamest bids you can imagine. I have an entire bundle (38 fat quarters) of Paris Flea Market by 3 Sisters for Moda, which cannot be found anywhere for love or money. It is packaged in a decorative fabric covered collectible box. This is the greatest fabric collection ever and my highest bid is $15.99 at the moment. Hello? That fabric collection is practically priceless. If you are interested in bidding on it, go check out the listing.

I’ve seen a design somewhere that would be great to showcase this fabric – it has large squares floating on a white ground with little squares (using the leftovers at random I guess) floating between them in the sashings and around the border – can’t for the life of me find the blessed thing though

Hi Nicole,
I’ve been eyeing this collection for a while now – it’s gorgeous (even though – or precisely because it’s somewhat out of my comfort zone).
My first thought for an appropriate quilt pattern was Tricia Cribbs’ “turning twenty” patterns.
Second guess: a bigger square, framed with solid sashing, second border with different print + sashing between the blocks…
I’m sure you’ll find the right quilt to include your new treasures.
Good luck with your ebay auctions,
Julia

OMG OMG OMG!!! i love paris flea market. i had then entire fat quarter bundle, and the coordinating fabrics and have been able to make a queen size quilt from it (which i love) and pillow cases and the largest lap quilt known to man AND still have fabric left over. BUT I WANT YOUR STASH!!!
this fabric is crack to me. i am so bidding on it unless you want to do a little side deal….

I adore this fabric and I am loving the aqau/oranges lately. Have you looked at Heather Peterson’s book Living Large? I have that book and it seems to focus on great fabrics that she puts in quilts in a way that you don’t lose the flavor of the great prints.

How about the pattern called BQ by Maple Island Quilts at this link:http://www.quiltbus.com/large-scale-patterns.htm
“BQ
Showcase your fabrics with 18″ blocks featuring an off-center 12″ square. No inset seams and borderless for an up tempo look. Build the BQ in sets of 6 blocks, choosing the number of fabrics that are perfect for your project. Fabric tips and a 9″ BQ block also. Pattern includes three sizes. ”
I think 12″ squares sound too big but maybe the 9″?
I searched on big block quilt patterns but most of the patterns I found were too traditional for this fabric, you need something more modern.
Good Luck finding just the perfect pattern for this wonderful fabric.
I’m doing this search on my computer, while I drink my coffee and ignore my breakfast. Some things are hard to give up.

We must be on the same wavelength – I bought the Deer Valley fabrics, also in the Azure colorway. My plan is to make this Hip to be Square quilt, but you need 1/2 yard pieces for this one.

Have you seen the pattern Ciopinno by Quilt Soup? I don’t like the off center aspect of it, but the idea is great for fabrics like those.

I think having the DH bring you coffee in bed is a splendidly serene way to start the day. Breakfast might just be overrated. 🙂 I love the Paris Flea Market collection. I’ve had that one for years and have only managed to pet it because I can’t bear to cut it up.

Oh Nicole…why didn’t you sell it on your blog when you were selling your stash? I sure hope people really want it so you can get some momey out of it. That’s one reason why ebay “scares” me.

Have you ever used any of Heather Mulder Peterson’s patterns (her company is Ankas Treasures)?
She had a book come out last year called “Living Large” with designs meant to showcase the new large scale fabrics.
You can check out what she said about it and some of the designs here:

I made a skirt out of the Deer Valley Damask (in celadon). I love it. The big pattern works beautifully for clothing. I know, I know… it’s supposed to be quilting fabric. I couldn’t help myself. It’s so gorgeous I had to wear it!!!
