Hello Midwinter Reds!

I did a little happy dance on the front porch when I saw that this had arrived.  Good thing I have a couple of guardians to watch over valuables until I can pick them up.

At the moment I do not have specific plans for the bundle, just knew I had to have it.  All you red lovers out there, don't miss out on this collection! 

I had drooled over pictures of the group, and for me, of course it was the reds that stood out.  When I got to see the bundle in person, I was surprised that the tans had stayed under my radar.  But aren't they just the perfect contrast for those crisp reds?  I want to give some thought to this fabric collection and choose just the right pattern to show off all the individual fabrics in it. I am imagining a star block with a scrapppy tan center…  Or maybe a basket block with tan handles?

Do any of you have the Midwinter Reds group by Minick and Simpson?  What ideas do you have for a quilt block or pattern to really make the most of it?  Goodness, how about this pattern from the designers themselves?

  5. I love your Guardians. No one would ever take a package with them looking on! I love the Midwinter Reds, but don’t have any yet. Our shop is going to have a trunk show of Minick & Simpson’s new quilts made from the collection. I can’t wait!

  9. I ordered a bunch of Mid-Winter Reds fat quarters a few days ago. Funny you have the picture of the quilt pattern I’m going to make with them. It’s absolutely perfect for my house.

  11. What a delicious array of fabrics and the quilt is a delight! I wonder what size the quilt is. Those 9 patches must be pretty small if the stars aren’t huge.
    I’m still sewing from my stash and have a looooooog ways to go before it’s used up. Sooner or later I’ll be down to scraps but I adore scrap quilts so that will still float my boat.

  27. That free pattern has caught my eye, I must admit. I bought a fat eighth bundle of Indigo Crossing which I plan to make up into the Blogger Girls BOM I printed off. Maybe some red highlights?!
