Here Kitty Kitty

009

I'd like to introduce you to Meriwether Lewis, my daughter Sara's new kitten.  She adopted him from the Humane Society last week, and I have been getting acquainted with him while visiting her home for a few days.  Lewis is an intrepid explorer, just as his namesake was.  At any given moment he is cavorting around the house after his tail, trying to climb up onto the dining table, or getting into one random thing after another.  I just pulled him out of the bathtub, where he was playing in the leftover drops of water from someone's shower.  And they say cats don't like water…

Here is his housemate Remy coming in for a good look.  Remy tolerates Lewis remarkably well, and Lewis doesn't seem to feel he is in any danger.  I think Remy is a teensy bit jealous though.  When Lewis is getting a little pet or snuggle, Remy certainly shows that he wants to be on that action too.

I cannot get a good picture of that kitten to save my life.

But I did get a lovely picture of Sara's Fall Quilt!

  1. The Kitty is cute as a button. I find it funny at times that I was raised in a house with lots of outdoor cats (we lived on farm land) but I’m such a dog person. I can appreciate how cute and cuddly they are but I will take a dog any day of the week. LOL!
Love Love that quilt! Is it a recent finish? I dropped by Sara’s blog to see if she had posted more info on it but no luck. 🙁

  3. I’m not a pet owner, but I love to see pictures of other people’s pets. Lewis is a real cutie. I love that quilt.

  5. I have a fluffy ginger kitty and they are the best! Make sure you hold him and handle him a lot while he’s little and he’ll make a wonderful pet.

  7. What a sweet kitten. Love ginger cats. Had one, but he passed away a few years ago. Now have a pixie bob and a Maine coon. Your daughter’s quilt is fabulous. Perfect colour choices for fall.

  13. That little kitten is TOO CUTE! He and Remy will be best friends, I’m sure, since they are starting out young as “siblings”. Sara’s quilt is just beautiful for autumn. Not too much Halloween — just a touch — and not too much Thanksgiving. A beautiful balance!

  17. Sara’s Fall quilt is wonderful! Where does she find the time to do so much?
It’s lovely to meet Lewis! Kittens are such fun. Our younger cat, Tom, likes to put the stopper in the drain hole in the bathtub. Round plug in round hole, and all’s right with his world!
Remy will realize soon that there’s enough love to go around!
    Hugs!

  19. I have had such a good time going through your archives and looking at your past work. I’m drawn to the fun bright modern prints I see lately and you have shown some GREAT examples of how to work those prints into more traditional layouts like your Posh Baskets.
I have yet to actually *finish* a quilt that’s larger than crib size. I have a full size that’s mostly done but I’m doing the quilting myself and I just keep losing steam. As so often happens I don’t want to finish anything that I’ve already started. 🙂
With my birthday coming I know that my mother has gotten me a pile of Miss Rosie patterns so she’ll kill me if I get one of those for myself.. who are other pattern designers you like?
Also, if you ever get the urge, can you show us the back of one of your more complicated blocks? I have a hard time cutting down on bulk and it’s always disheartening.

  23. What a sweet kitten. Thanks for the pictures. I really enjoy your blog. I was looking for info on Jelly Rolls one day and your site popped up and I’ve been following it ever since.
I would love to know the pattern Sarah used for her fall quilt. I love it. Thanks
