Hit the Ground Running

I think I mentioned a few posts ago that I have been invited to teach Miss Rosie quilt patterns at my favorite local quilt shop.  I had two quilts in mind for this spring calendar session, with the idea that I would teach one class in March and the second one in May.  I received a phone call from the diabolical Miss April at the shop, saying, by the way, they need my quilt top in two days so it can be quilted in time for the shop Open House on Feb 2 when all the teachers display the quilts they plan to teach.  I muttered to April that I had just returned from Nashville, and that I would "do my best" to get the quilt made in two days.

Well, guess what?  I did!  I have never slapped a quilt top together this fast in my life.  The quilt is called Gingersnap and is from Carrie Nelson’s "It’s a Dog’s Life" book.  The fabrics are various fat quarters from the Fig Tree lines Day In the Country and Urban Indigo by Moda.  The class will be called "What Would Miss Rosie Do?"

Ozzie has discovered a new favorite spot in my family room, where he can perch and still have his eye on me.  I believe in a past life he was a mountain goat.

  1. Wow – that quilt is super cute, Nicole! I am so excited about the classes you are going to teach, and didn’t realize that you were going with that name, I think I suggested that one when we were brainstorming? You go girl!

  5. Love the quilt top. Great job–especially in a hurry. I can’t do anything in a hurrry. Hey! Sophie likes perching on the backs of chairs and Sophies too. I’ll be she told Ozzie how much fun it is. Good place to watch the world, Soph says.

  7. I would have to stay up for 48 hours to have that quilt done in time. Great job. What, Ozzie thinks he’s a kitty now perching on top of the furniture. So funny.

  13. Oh my goodness! Ozzie does just what my Bailey does. . . perches on the chair back! We have always teased him that he was like a kitty – but I think the idea of a mountain goat fits better!
(Love the quilt! . . . amazing speed woman! YOu would do well in getting ready for a Quilt Market!)

  21. Love the colors in that quilt. And Ozzie sitting on the back of the couch brings back fond memories of our little dog – we thought she was part squirrel!

  25. In two days?!? You are one amazing seamstress, Nicole! It is absolutely beautiful, too – very nice! I wish I lived close by, as I would definitely take your class!
Ozzie just gets cuter every day! My wiener dogs climb to the top of the couches, too. They must be part of the same mountain goat clan as Ozzie! LOL!
