I am in the thick of things with the construction of Coventry, that sweet pattern that I am making using the Peace on Earth fabric group. What did I fail to notice when I launched into the pattern? The one inch square border! Not just one, but a double checkerboard border. Man oh man, I thought I was DONE with this sort of thing after finishing Garden Fence. Here we go again.
Ozzie was at it all day again today, trying his darndest to get my attention. At one point, he brought the outside broom into my sewing room and poked me with it. I couldn’t believe my ears when I heard him banging down the hallway to my sewing room. That broom must have hit the wall two dozen times. If he marked the paint, my husband is going to kill us. Yes, he did get my attention with that stunt. It took me five minutes of chasing him all over the back yard to get the darn broom back. He looks pretty determined to hang onto it, doesn’t he?
After our little romp, he settled down on a pile of fabric and took a bit of a snooze. Life is never dull with Ozzie around.
I am taking him on a little bye bye in the car to have a playdate with his friend Remy. That should get some of his energy worked out! Hope you all had a great weekend. Look for the fabric scrap drawing on Tuesday. I may break it into two prizes since so many of you were interested!

Oh,no Nicole! I just bought the book last week that “Coventry” is in so I could make it too after I saw you talk about it on one of your posts. My “Garden Fence” is tucked away for the very same reason, being those borders! If you can perseverve, so can I!!! I don’t have any pets but I really love that little Ozzie – he keeps you young too!

Nicole — what a story about Ozzie and the broom! That is way too funny for words. We used to have a little cat who would carry her favourite toy on a stick and drop it at our feet. If we didn’t immediately respond, she wasn’t the least bit shy about making vocal demands. 🙂
The borders may be a lot of work, but think about how gorgeous they’ll look!

Oh Ozzie! If you would only sweep with the broom instead of beating up the walls with it! Ask your mama to show you how. ~Adrienne~

Nicole, I can just picture Ozzie dragging that broom around the house. Priceless! I wonder what on earth gave him that idea? She has settled down a bit, but for about a month,Bertha, our cat, had it in her mind that my craft/computer chair was hers. She would paw and whine and whine. If I got up to go to the bathroom, she would be in it when I got back. With it warmer, she doesn’t like it as much but every time it cools down, back she comes with the whining. Ahhh, our little animal children can drive you nuts yet make you love them all at once. Can’t wait to see the border on the quilt! Have a great week. Love Stacy

Hi Nicole,
Oh, I hope that you can hang in there with the Coventry border!. . . I’m hoping with the fact that it is strip-pieced. . . that it will go by faster than you think. I must admit, . . that I am a sucker for border details. . .! But please do let me know if you have any trouble with the directions. . . as Coventry was one of two of my designs that I hired a professional pattern writer to write for me.(!) (They’re not quite as I would have written them. . . but they work!) I hope you think the end result will be worth the piecing!
I can’t wait to see your finished quilt – as I think your piecing is amazing!
xo, Bren

What is it with brooms? Little Miss Maggie goes bazonkers if I start sweeping ouside. Running in circles and barking. When she was little I would put the broom in her pen just to quiet her down.

I get so tickled at the things Ozzie does to get your attention. I’m sure it’s less funny to you.
The red/white checkerboard border is going to be lovely.

Yes, indeed, what kind of dog is Ozzie? I’m too lazy to search your blog archives for the answer. LOL at him with the broom. We had a cat once who would drag a pillow up the basement stairs, but Ozzie way beats that!

guess you will have to start taking Ozzie out for a long walk before you start sewing! then you know you have a few hours of sewing time before he gets his energy back!
He is one funny dog…never a dull moment with him around!

Ozzie never fails to steal my heart away with his cuteness (and that’s saying something, because I’m not a pet person much). 🙂

The checkerboard will add a lot to the quilt, so I know you will do it. I won’t say you’ll enjoy it, but you will do it. Poor Ozzie – what more does he have to do to get your attention? lol

Oh My ! the cuteness! The little devil.
Love checkerboard borders. They really perk up a quilt. That will be very festive with that fabric.
Ozzie’s fame continues to grow. My husband now wonders out loud what’s up with Ozzie.
Famous in legend and song!
