You would laugh if you could see me doing my little happy dance. I love these blocks. Each one is unique and so much fun to put together. I have seven done, out of 24 (or is it 25?). If I make six a day, this Birdseye quilt will be a reality in no time. These star blocks will be combined with double nine patch blocks (hence the reason for making 121 nine patch units!). The setting for this quilt is simple, but due to the piecing of the two different blocks in the top, and a diagonal set, it looks so much more complicated than it is.
In spite of my big boo boo of sewing the brown and white half square triangles all wrong (instead of brown I used the prints), I am making good progress. I did have to rip out 24 half square triangles, but the bias edges didn't stretch and no fabric was wasted. No harm done to fabric in the making of this quilt.
This is the sort of day it has been. It has been pouring rain for over 12 hours here, with no let up at all. Well, I guess I won't have to water the roses will I? I didn't want to leave Sophie in the house while I went to work, so I left her in the garage with the door open. When I got home, she was soaking wet from frolicking out in the rain, but at least had the option of coming into the warmer, dry garage. Aren't you glad you aren't a dog? It would be so boring to get left home all day. Or worse, left out in the rain!
This is the sort of day that makes me crave

I am on the Gain One Pound A Week Diet. My husband goes out of town for the week and all I can think about is eating pasta.

Wow, the blocks look great! (no surprise there) I didn’t realize how big they were -they look to be 12″. The quilt is so big! I love it! Now I REALLY want to make it.

Those birdseye make me want this line, though it didn’t do much for me when I say it.
Switch to whole wheat pasta and the extra fibre will make it not soooo bad. And of course the golden rule of any (sane/healthy) diet is portion control, almost more than what you eat.
Hopefully Sophie didn’t smell too badly after her fun day running through the rain. My white maltese, come in brown whenever it rains, they love to play in the muck.

I love these blocks too. While I am mostly recovered from my surgery and back at work I can’t seem to get my quilting mojo back in gear. I need to come up with a fabulous project to get me going. Maybe I should start by looking for some fabulous new fabric!

Days like that make me want to stay inside and make a big pot of stew or bean soup, with homemade biscuits or cornbread. You have the right idea with the comfort food. Mac n Cheese and spaghetti and meatballs are at the top of the list!
You’re moving right along on those Birdseye blocks. You’re going to have it to your quilter and home again in no time.

I love those blocks too! You are tempting me to add another project to my list! I wish we could have even one solid hour of your rain…I’m beginning to wonder if it will ever rain again here!

I’m making the Birdeye quilt also. Lots of sewing but so much fun to make! I just love how it creates the design! I also eat lots of pasta as my husband travels almost every week. It’s quick, easy, tasty and you can get back to sewing in no time.

I love the blocks and that they are all different. It takes a bit longer to make all those combinations, but the result is so much more interesting.
It rains so much here in the autumn, that we pretty much only notice the weather when it’s fine. As I was reading your post, I was hoping Sophie was a four legged family member:-)
I also have pasta when husband’s gone, he’s not a big fan. Oh, I’m hungry!

Now that’s a diet I could stick to and be successful at! Remember the rouenneries? Can you show us what you did?

Nicole,
I am on that diet, too. Why is all the good stuff so fattening ?
I sooo love the blocks. I would be doing a happy dance, too.
I HAVE to do that pattern at some point. I have done a block like that minus the 9 patch in the middle.
