I made a couple more triangle blocks for the 2017 Triangle Gatherings sew along. Isn't it fun how the star points frame and highlight the different 4 1/2" center squares? The blocks were fun on their own, but the cohesiveness the star surrounds give them really elevates the look.
Someone asked me if I would add sashing, and honestly, I don't think this arrangement needs it. The consistent background and the uniformity of the star shape are holding their own in my opinion. Using the same fabric as a background makes the blocks seem to float, and each one stands out to my eye.
Thanks for your sympathy with my sad garden situation. I guess our planter beds are dead for this growing season. Maybe next spring we can remove the soil, line the beds with wire mesh or something to keep the gophers out, and put the soil back in and try again. For now, my husband has ordered a good sized planter box on legs that we can put closer to the house. I will plant all the herbs my heart desires, and know that those darn gophers won't be able to get at them. I will post a picture when I get it assembled and planted.
Here is my Moda BlockHead's block of the week. Number 13, a Bowtie block. I had the same print in four different colors, and thought they would be pretty combined in a block. Ok, designer girls, how about another appliqué block?

I was going to tell you yesterday we bought garden boxes on legs. They are really working out for us. Abundant growth this year. Thank you God for all our rain this past winter. My garden looks great compared to last year. Cute block!

No gophers here in Northern Ireland but the slugs and snails will eat anything green it seems but have not touched my red lettuce! Maybe I should plant more red veg. I love your blocks and agree – no dashing. I love the way the colours pop on the neutral background.

I love your triangle blocks they look amazing with the star points! I would add a small sashing otherwise you have to match all these star points.

Love your floating stars–very very attractive. Bow ties are another favorite! I haven’t jumped to Instagram but it seems to be where everyone is–especially the younger generation my kids belong to. I’m missing all the great pics of my grandsons!

Yes, herbs are wonderful and just having them will give you loads of fresh taste for the summer (since the gopher has robbed you of your own veggies).

Love how your blocks are turning out!, they look so good on their own like that. You might be able to pant a few tomatoe plants in pots and keep on the porch too. I’ve seen some cute “patio gardens” that take advantage of small spaces.
