Industrial Accident

Photo

This will be brief, as you can see my finger isn't up to typing so well.

This may be the first on record curved piecing related injury.  I actually got my finger under the needle trying to manuever the fabric.  Don't ask.  They told me at Urgent Care that I won the prize for weirdest accident of the day.

I won't give up. I won't give up.

  7. Oh NO!!!! I’m so sorry this happened but it’s kinda nice to win a prize… kinda. As an ER nurse for 5 years long ago, there are some really, really weird things that happen to folks.
    Happy healing!
    Hugs!

  25. Oh so sorry Nicole; that puts a wrinkle in your stitching time. Hopefully it’s brief and not too painful. I enlarged the photos of your fabrics on the post yesterday. They are too beautiful.

  31. ouch! I can relate somewhat, I got my finger in the way of the rotary cutter while trying to cut a curve. Bleed all over my fabric and cutting mat. I was more worried about all of that than my finger. Took 8 stitches and I still have a small scar. Also got stitches in another finger while trying to cut a button hole open with a seam ripper. Not good with sharp tools in the sewing room. I guess thats why they make those kevlar gloves. LOL

  40. So sorry to hear of your “wierd” accident. Ouch. I can relate, as I once sewed through my finger. Missed the bone. Pulled the needle out by myself. Gave me a lot more respect for keeping my distance from the needle. I hope you heal quickly, so that you can get back on the horse and conquer that curved piecing.

  43. Ouch! I hope it heals quickly and you are back to quilting soon! I dropped the rotary cutter on the top of my foot! How do you do that? By talking and using my hands and not paying attention! Not good!

  49. I can see how this would happen, you want to hold those pieces together as they approach the needle and before you know it… ouch! I hope you recover quickly.

  52. Oh, my! I’ve had a few rotary cutter finger accidents and once the needle on my sewing machine broke, popped up and hit me on the mouth and I thought maybe I had swallowed a piece! Luckily I found all the pieces, so obviously that’s not what happened, but for a few minutes I was worried about how I would explain that in the ER………I hope you get well soon!

  58. Golly Nicole that stinks. I hope a couple of days later you are feeling better. No, never give up. I got ‘needled’ twice when I was a teenager. It hurt a bunch. If you do this again we are going to make you get a finger guard for your machine! Heal fast but don’t sew so fast.

  64. Ouch! At least you’ve got a sense of humour about it. You kind of would need one with the ER staff calling it the weirdest injury of the day. Your way of writing about yourself made me laugh again. Hope it’s healed well by now.
