Spring Has Sprung

It's Spring at my house.  I know we have three more weeks until it is official, but I am ignoring that measly fact.  Time to change out the couch pillows for the season!  This is Pottery Barn's Spring offering, which works very well for me.  They also have an adorable print with birds on it, but my husband firmly nixed that choice.  "No birds" he said.  Shhh, I snuck in a bird's nest with some eggs in it.  Maybe he won't notice.  Let's hope my dogs don't notice.  I can just see what Ozzie would do to those eggs.

As I was putting away the quilts I had out that coordinated with my Winter pillow coverings, I had the thought, "What on earth do I have that will match those colorful Spring pillows?"  And what do you know?  On the very bottom of a stack of quilts stored in the closet, there was just the perfect quilt!  I must have made this one years and years ago, back in my Thimbleberries days.  I recall that it was a quilting retreat project that I did at a Quilt Camp up in Truckee back in the 90's.  Pink, red, green, gold–it's all there!  Works for me.

I have more fun with this couch.  There are five 24" square loose pillows that make up the back of the couch.  Two of them are covered in sage green velvet and three of them in a purple, sage, and cream tapestry.  Those colors are very pretty, but I get tired of the same pattern month after month.  So, I change out the three tapestry pillow covers when the mood strikes me.  Pottery Barn has been my source for most of the pillow covers that I have used, but I am definitely not opposed to making my own.  However, so far, every season Pottery Barn has come through for me with covers that I like that match the sage green of the existing two green velvet pillows.

Hey, when's Easter anyway?  Is it too early to bring out my bunnies?

  1. That cloth Bunny is adorable!! I don’t think it’s ever to early for bunnies, and if anyone says it is well you just remind them that it’s YOUR house, and they make you smile and well we all need that this time of year.

  3. Love the spring look, time to get the bunnies out! I too loved Thimbleberries—now not so much. I have four dresser drawers full of Thimbleberries and don’t know what to do with it. Any ideas? Have made two large “Turning Twenty” quilts but that didn’t even put a dent in my stash.BettyLou

  7. I’m doing the same thing–putting away winter and getting out spring. The jump start I needed was the realization that Easter is actually the first Sunday in April–yikes! Just a month away! It’s Bunny Time!
