Isn't that pretty? The best $9 I ever spent. I get these gorgeous orchids at my local Savemart, and for $9 they give me six weeks of pretty indoor blooms. Sometimes more. Living plants are such a treat to have inside, and anything with a spot of color is a bonus.
I haven't been doing any sewing. Hopefully today I will, but I just haven't been all that much in the mood, to tell the truth. Sometimes that is the way it is, I guess. I have been working a lot, and that means no sewing, and I think I mentioned that I have had my nose stuck in a book a lot of the time lately too. Just lazy I guess.
We found a tenant to move into Grandpa's old house, so that is good. The real estate sales market has not been so great in our area, so renting the place seemed the best option for now. We found a young single woman who wants a furnished house. My husband is giving her a ridiculous rate on renting the house, half of what it normally would go for, and she had the naivitee to ask "Does that include all the utilities?" Oh to be young and clueless again. And he is such a sucker for a pretty face he might just agree.
As to Grandpa, some of you have asked how he is doing. He is in a "Memory Care" facility, where he is being very well taken care of. Sad to say, he seems a bit more frail and addled each time I visit him. He can't remember my name, but he knows he loves me. He occasionally asks me when I will take him to see "Mother", which is tricky to answer if you know what I mean. Poor fellow. He still loves his meals, and the attention of all the nurses. He always has a sweet smile for everyone, so the staff is especially fond of him. Thank goodness we didn't get a difficult dementia patient.
A couple of people have emailed me to ask why I haven't been posting, and since I have been posting, I think it must stem from the Typepad issues that occured a week or so ago. Remember when Typepad was hacked, and was down for a couple of days? I think if some of you had me on your blog notification services, when Typepad went down any Typepad blogs may have been deleted from such services. If so, you might have to re-enter my blog.
Can't think of anything else to chat about right now, except maybe my new mascara "Bad Gal Lash" by Benefit. It is a good one.
Oh. And these sandals. Super cute, come in six or more colors and……the navy ones were $12.00 at TARGET. You all know I love shoes, and well, I just couldn't pass these up. Or the black ones or the turquoise ones.
Thank goodness Ozzie has stopped chewing up my shoes. He never did go for the cheap ones though. Only the expensive ones, or for some reason, the orange ones. Do check out this post on The Orange Shoe Murders. I think you will find it entertaining.

I haven’t been in the mood to sew for the last two or three days either….do you suppose it’s contagious?? Although I did do a good clean up of my sewing space, so that’s one good thing. Love the sandals! I wish there was a Target in our area. I hope your new tenant works out.

I got an orchid last year and the lady at the counter told me to only water from the bottom up. Put the water in the container don’t pour it over the top. Well I’ll be darned if it didn’t work. That plant flowered for months and months way longer than any plant that I have ever owned. I still have the plant and it has sent up new leaves…so who knows!!

Ah, life. Sometimes we feel like one thing, sometimes another. A break from sewing isn’t a bad thing, and will probably result in renewed energy and inspiration somewhere down the road. I have a quilt on my sewing table that I’m halfway done quilting. And there it has sat for about a month now. I keep thinking I need to get it finished every time I walk by it. And I walk on by. Maybe next week!

What a bargain on that orchid! I see them at our grocery store flower department, but figured that I probably wouldn’t be able to keep it looking good more than a couple of days. And my prices aren’t nearly as great as yours! You’ll get the mojo back when it’s time. Mine is a little faulty right now too…

I’m not sure if it’s a seasonal thing, the weather or what – but I’ve not been in the mood to quilt either! Haven’t been even in the room for 4 or 5 days now….need to find the motivation again.

My son just told me he thought my valentine orchid was dead as the blooms were all dried and shriveled like the ivy on the side (yes I kill ivy). I had to tell him the leaves were still green, so it wasn’t dead yet , but the dead ivy didn’t look promising…guess I better pick me up one of those plants 🙂
