Kaleidoscope Quilted

I am so thrilled with this quilt!  It only has one major problem, and that is that I didn't make it twice as big.

It was beautifully quilted by Mary of Quilt Hollow, and I don't think I could be any crazier about how it turned out.  Zoom in if you can and take a closer look at her wonderful quilting.

This quilt was a big deal for me:  bright fabrics, a more modern vibe than I was used to, and the fabulous secondary circular pattern formed by the blocks.  A lot of new things, that all turned out surprisingly well, especially once I figured out that I was using the wrong method to attach the corner triangles.  (Clearly I have issues with corner triangles).

For this project, I used the Kaleidoscope Smart Plate Ruler, and a collection of mostly Denyse Schmidt fabrics.  My quilt ended up being smaller than I intended because I had to trim all my blocks down smaller to accomodate the error I had made.  I would definitely make this block again, and highly recommend tackling the difficulty level required.

  4. Absolutely beautiful quilt! I love quilts with secondary patterns … especially circular ones! And the quilting that Mary did was genius … Too often long armers’ quilting competes with the fabulous design of the quilt, but Mary’s choice was perfect to compliment the top! I just love this!

  16. I’m glad you persisted and tamed that “creature” it was in the first place – now you ended up with a wonderful “creation” !!! And btw it’s good to see somebody so experienced is struggling sometimes too. That’s another reason why I love your blog so much – I’m pretty confident your current corner triangle problem will produce a similarly beautiful result in the end.

  49. Oh my Nicole. This is a gorgeous quilt and it looks amazing hanging from the banister. I really must get out of my comfort zone and try some of these rulers…and make something awesome enough to deserve some of Mary’s “frosting!”
