What do you think? Like the looks of this quilt? Me too. Would you like one of your own? Yup, me too. Allyson of Fat Cat Quilts took this picture while she was on a recent road trip through Utah. Of course she stopped at all the quilt shops, and this was one of many amazing quilts that she saw.
Want one of your own? So, here's how you get one. Join Allyson (Fat Cat Quilts) and me for a challenge to make this scrumptious quilt, called Leftovers Again? from the 40 Fabulous Quick Cut Quilts book by Evelyn Sloppy. Very simple piecing. Strip piecing and half square triangles to make easy peasy snow ball blocks.
You can do it in any color scheme you like, it doesn't have to be red. But mine is going to be red. And Allyson's is going to be red. lol Just kidding, no pressure. This quilt would be amazing in any color scheme, including all scrappy, every color in the rainbow. But mine is going to be red. And so is Allyson's.
We are still working out the details, such as the finish date etc. But what Allyson is coordinating is a strip swap for the lights. How fun is that?? We will send a 4 x 42" strip of a light fabric to five or six other participants and end up with six different strips for every one of our own. Variety is the spice of life for sure. No one ever can have enough lights for a scrappy quilt!
More details to follow, both here and on Allyson's blog. If you are interesting in joining in, let me or Allyson know and we will post a link to your blog on our sidebar so folks can check on you and see how you are progressing.

I have that book and don’t remember being particularly impressed by that quilt, but it never ceases to amaze me how another quilter’s ‘color interpretation’ can sometimes really get your attention! What a great project/challenge idea! The results will be fun to see.

I would love to join the challenge and the fabric exchange as well. However, I don’t have a blog. Can I still participate?

Nicole that is so funny about this quilt because I too fell in love with it when I saw it on Allyson’s blog. I knew right away that I wanted to make one too, so yes I’m in. I like the red and white coloring too.

I already contacted Allyson and I’m definitely in, but I thought we were swapping 4″ strips?

Oh, I’d love to participate!! Working on setting up my blog… Hope I can join, too, while I’m building my blog. I have so many great reds in my stash that are screaming to be in this quilt! Just in time for the holidays!

I tried one of these before when I was a beginner and finally threw it away…
but I think it would be fun to try it again… it really would be a challenge:)

I’m in, dahlink. Been collecting BROWNS for a while with one rather weak idea for them. So I’m in. Fershure.

OK I’m in! I’ve been having trouble getting my quilting mojo back since my surgery and this is just what I need.

Wonderful challenge. . . but I have too many irons in the fire right now & need to get those cleared away before I get involved in anything else.
I’ll be watching the progression though. . and would love to start one of my own after the new year.
