Let the Gardening Begin

The gardeners are here!  I expect that there will be much lopping, trimming, pulling, and piling going on in my yard the next few days.  They didn't really show up each with their very own wheel barrow, but I loved that picture above.  The barrows look like they are in a confab just before they line up to run a marathon.  Go Team Blue!

In actual fact, this is the scene in front of my house at this very moment.

One, very industrious gardener doing all the work, while his ancient father looks on in a supervisorial fashion.  lol  I love the fact that he brought his dad along.  I wonder if it would be weird if I put a garden chair out there for him to sit on?

So, that is the Before picture of the overgrown front of my house.  Stay tuned for the After.

This dead stump is supposed to be the focal point outside my kitchen window.  Lovely, yes?  No.  That thing has to come out and something magnificent put in its place.  Any ideas?  I wish I could incorporate daffodils.  The Easter Bunny is going to need someplace to hide.

  1. I love ornamental cherry trees. They have weeping branches and when they bloom, they are absolutely stunning. =)

  3. I’m not sure where you live, but a Japanese maple is always a good choice. Plus, they don’t really get too big for a foundation planting like that.
I’m enjoying your narration…can’t wait to see the photos of the finish.

  7. Nicki,
I think if your doing it for you and Dennis, then put something you would enjoy like a number of different bulbs for cutting. Or perhaps a small flowering crabapple tree. If your doing it for perspective buyers, I’d put in seasonal flowers with a lot of color that will show well during any home showings.
