It's been a minute since I have done in sewing, but after a few days without power, I thought I should be more grateful for my electricity and actually use it. I got up to the sewing room yesterday and brought out an unlabeled project that I started back in May. Five months ago.
When I opened the box, I literally thought "What on earth was I making?" I had to look up my blog posts to refresh my memory. Honestly, if that isn't a good reason to have a blog, I can't think of another one. It turns out, this is the Temecula Quilt Company's Sew Along that they did on "One Block Wednesdays". The instructions can be found here.
I have been so lacking any quilting mojo for months, mainly due to the fact that I have way way way too many bed sized quilts. I think in the future, I need to make more smaller projects, and maybe work on one or two large quilts per year. This will be a big one, but I have to say it is fun and kind of mindless stitching. I listened to some book podcasts while I sewed and spent a nice couple of hours.
Happy Halloween!

It will be interesting to see the progress on this resurrected project. I do like the color and scrappiness of the blocks.

I am thankful that you have not been affected by the fires. They are so scary.

This quilt is going to be really nice IMO. I can’t work on “just anything” it seems…I have to really want to make the quilt or I seem to lose my mojo too. You should go buy some new fabric to get yourself in the mood!!! Have a good one, Nicole. Oh, and I am a third of the way thru The Dutch House. She just kicked him out and he’s off to boarding school. I can’t imagine where this book will go next…

So happy you were spared & the only problem was no electricity. I understand your loss of sewing mojo…it happens every now & then. Once you get back into it you’re good to go! I tend to make lap or crib sized quilts & they satisfy the ‘urge’ to use a particular fabric or pattern just fine. They’re still quilts, but smaller & easier to manage. I also gift or donate quite a few which clears them out, too!

I like those blocks a lot. I have been in a funk myself as far as doing projects on the sewing machine. I have been doing hand quilting in front of the TV because it is the warmest place in the house, I hate being cold. My friends in Santa Rose are safe and I just heard can go back to their homes today. SO relieved for them. Take care Nicole.

Glad you have electricity now and aren’t in danger from fires. I have had a problem getting back to my sewing room too. My husband had an unexpected heart cath, requiring a stent on the 11th and then an aortic valve replacement on the 17th and pacemaker on the 18th (after he had a complete heart block early that morning) and I just can’t concentrate very well. He is fine, doing great!
I saved instructions for One Block Wednesday but I think I’d like to enlarge the block to a 6″ block. Now to figure that out!!
