I buckled down and finished making those darn square in a square blocks for the Family Reunion quilt. I then cut out the 7/8" wide lattice strips that separate them. I made good progress with those and hope to get this darn project done and off the design wall this week.
Are you interested in getting your UFOs completed? Do you wonder how to accomplish that? If you are feeling overwhelmed by your UFO projects, consider using this handy tool from All People Quilt (APQ).
They have come up with a great idea, which they have successfully presented each January over the past few years. Here's how it works. You list 12 UFO projects. Write each one a scrap of paper and put it in a basket. Shake the scraps of paper up and then draw out one at a time. Your first project will be what you work on (or try to complete) in the first month of the year, January. The second project for February will be whatever is written on the next scrap of paper you draw out of the basket, and so on, through the twelve months of the year. Download the project sheet here. The goal is to get those UFOs done this calendar year, and not have them sit unattended to and possibly forgotten.
I think I am going to give this a try! Only I am going to cheat and make the Family Reunion UFO my completion goal for January 2023. After that, it can be random, I don't care. But I have got to get that thing done right now.
How do you plan to tackle your UFOs? Or do you not even care if they sit idle indefinitely? I admit I have a few projects that I could never look at again and not regret it. But, there are others that deserve to be finished. Wish me luck!!

A local quilt shop does the same thing plus adds a reward to one special quilter each month from a name draw. I get a lot done when I finish UFO’s with the shop.

Nicole I am with you on this UFO agenda for 2023! I actually started in November to complete one of the UFO on my list and now I am finding all sorts of projects that need very little to complete. Why did I wait so long to complete them? New stuff just is more exciting to give a try!

I’m doing something similar. I cleaned out my sewing room and identified 9 projects in various stages of not-finished. My goal is to get at least 5 of them done before I start anything new.

I’m going with your last paragraph…I have a few projects that are sitting idle & I don’t care if they’re ever finished! I have a few kits & fabric bundles that haven’t been started, so perhaps I’ll take another look at those! You really buckled down with those final blocks yesterday! Congrats!

I usually try to do this, but didn’t sew for much of 2022 for various reasons. Over the New Year’s weekend, I got 2 tops finished and mailed to the longarmer, and it’s given me a fresh boost to get some of my other UFOs finished. It looks like you are off to a great start too – Happy New Year!

I try to ignore them…I hide from them. I pretend I never started the project.
Good luck with your list!

I remember way back when you were completing one UFO a week during the summer. I think they are under Summer Friday Finishes. I was so impressed with that idea! So I’m going to try that and see how many UFO’s I can finish by the end of March (using that project sheet from APQ). Good luck to both of us:)
