Since my dear son in law needed to use our guest room, the bed in which, I was using as a place to lay out my quilt blocks had to be cleared off. I took your advice and so you can see my stack of a couple hundred snowball blocks and pieced triangles, all stacked up and labeled by row. There were 20 rows.
I got out my lint roller sticky thing and ran it all over the coverlet and picked up all the little threads and strings. Then I got out a finished quilt and laid it out on the bed so it would be all fresh and nice for him.
The moment I finished, the phone rang and it was said dear son in law. The winery where he works has postponed his trip down here to pick up a load of grapes until later in the week.
Like I said, a design wall is a really good idea.
P.S. I was really looking forward to his visit too!

AAARGH!
My wonderful husband built me a design wall and mounted it on the wall in the sewing studio. It is about the size of a scant twin bed but has hinges on the sides and opens up to just about queen. Covered with charcoal flannel. I don’t know how I lived without it!

I have a perfect wall in my sewing room for a design wall and just haven’t put one up. Everytime I layout blocks on the floor I tell my hubby that we need to put up a design wall and then it’s forgotten. LOL
The quilt on the bed is lovely.

Isn’t that always the way it goes! LOL! Yes, a design wall is in your future.

Gee whiz, I thought I was the only one with that kind of luck.

Hey, at least you have a design bed — I’ve got a design FLOOR — and a small space at that. Oh well, you’ll hopefully see your son in law in a few days and, hey, the cleaning is already done!

Best laid plans…oh well, now you have them all gathered to sew together…and you still get to see him. I love the quilt on the bed.

Doesn’t it always happen that way! Yep, time for a design wall. If you can’t find a spot for a permanent one, get a flannel backed tablecloth. Use clip-on curtain rings and hang it from a curtain rod across a window or closet. You can just push it out of the way. =)

I love the quilt on the bed! Like Angela I also use the floor as a sort of design wall. So I agree, a design wall is a really good idea!

Woo, hoo! Sure beats having grandkids re-arranging things. We just purchased a farm and now that the animals have been housed, I have insisted upon an “off-limits” studio.

I have become hooked to your blog!! I love looking at all your quilts and your pup is super cute! The finished quilt on the bed, is there a pattern for that or is there a name for that type of block?
