After tossing and turning half the night having nightmares about my crooked lattice, I got up at the crack of dawn and just fixed it. Whew. That's better.
This Antique Stars quilt is ginormous. You can see the middle three rows across my 72 inch wide design wall, and they don't fit at all. I am assembling this quilt top in three sections. The first section is done, and draped over the railing on my second floor landing. The middle section is almost done, and the third section will be done on Thursday or Friday, with luck.
Isn't it interesting how different the blocks look with and without the lattice? This quilt is going to be ample bed-size for my queen sized bed. There is another outside border still to come that will make this quilt even larger.
I have had these blocks up on the design wall for so long, it is a miracle they have stayed up. Particularly, since my husband got an idea in his head a month or two ago, to put a window fan up in the window in my sewing room. That blows cooler night time air INTO the room. Accckkkk!!! Are you kidding me? It took me three days to get the blocks arranged just so and with one click of the switch on that fan, they were blowing all over the room. I finally straightened him out, and started over again with my block arrangement, and (don't tell him this) but I think I like this arrangement better.

It really is a beauty! I think borders /lattice and assembling the rows are my least favorite parts in the quilting process (must be because it is always so much fabric to work with!)
I am anxious to see it completed!!

Those Red Crinoline Quilts are huge and I love it.
My Regimental Stars quilt had to be pieced in two sections and I then i put it together on the floor. In my new house I don’t have any floor space, so my next RC Quilt will be a supreme challenge.
Your quilt is looking beautiful.

This quilt is going to be strikingly beautiful and wonderfully cozy! I just love scrap quilts and looking at the enlarged photos is a real treat! Will you back it with flannel or do you not need flannel where you live?
Applause for your diligence in straightening the sashing intersections, too.
Hugs!

I prefer not to sew long lines of lattice so I just add lattice pieces to two sides of each block before sewing the blocks together. It makes it much easier to handle and it all fits together much better.

Ha ha ha–I won’t say a word to him about the better block arrangement. Funny.
I love how your lattice looks with the blocks coming together. Just beautiful.
My grandma use to stew at night re: her sewing and knitting projects. She was known to be up in the wee hours working on things as well. 🙂 She taught me my love of sewing.

It’s a beautiful quilt… and it is amazing how different the blocks look with the lattice.
It’s always better to make those changes when we see them so that we don’t regret it later. On another note…
Happy birthday to grandpa too! I am glad he is happy and entertaining the women where he is at. At least the one. Funny how that works.

Bless you. You waited until the “crack of dawn”. I would have jumped up in the middle of the night and made a “dogs dinner” of the whole thing. You never cease to amaze me as to your talent, honesty, patience and tenacity.
