I thought I'd share an update on my progress with the Mercantile sew-along. I have actually kept up with this one. I've enjoyed all the block patterns and haven't felt the need to substitute any of them out. As you know, I decided to forgo the applique circle instructions in favor of having low-volume backgrounds for a less busy look. I am going for a vintage/1930's summertime vibe.
Here is a close-up of the two most recent blocks.
In other news, this little guy is undergoing a "procedure" today… I hope he won't notice something is missing when he gets home. Hopefully the worst of it will be having to wear the plastic collar while he recovers.

Good Morning, Nicole-Thanks for sharing your two newest blocks….they are so pretty! I love to read your emails and see what you are up to, and then of course, there’s Archie, who is always up to something. Good luck today, Archie, as you turn a corner of your life. You are such a sweet boy!

Cute blocks, this will be a very pretty summery quilt. Archie will deserve an extra treat or two! πΎβ₯οΈπΎ

Love the blocks! My daughter just had her German Shepherd/Belgian Malinois mix spayed. She has an inflatable donut collar to keep her away from the stitches and it’s so much more comfy than the old cones. You might want to check into one for Archie!

I think you made a wise choice in avoiding the applique. Just a little too busy for me. Give Archie a big hug today. The cone of shame is so tough to wear!

good luck Archie! we were able to take the cone off the 1st night. river didn’t bother the incision at all. however, 2 weeks of rest?! yeah, in the vet’s dreams. we started taking him on many short walks within 2 or 3 days. he was climbing the walls. short walk every hour or 2 really helped him mentally. good luck!
I love that quilt. the 30s vibe is just wonderful and the diagonal setting really adds to it.

You’ve definitely hit on the 1930’s vibe with those fabrics! They now have alternatives to the ‘cone of shame’ so maybe Archie won’t be as miserable as wearing one of those. Wishing him a smooth recovery & lots of extra treats to help him along! πΆπ

Love how your blocks are coming along! May need to do this as I want a fan of the circled either.
