Mission Accomplished

003

As I write this, I am about to turn in after a nice holiday weekend with family.  We had a great Sunday dinner/birthday celebration/4th of July party at my dad's house.  I didn't even have to drive home (Ahren was the designated driver), so I could enjoy my sister Andrea's watermelon margaritas.  Better than Jamba Juice, I am telling you.  I hope your 4th of July celebration was as mellow and safe as mine was.

This weekend I sat on my couch and sewed bindings.  My right index finger feels like it is still holding the needle.  I sewed for hours and hours and got four and a half quilts bound.  I did not do one other thing, much to my husband's annoyance.  He was hoping for some house cleaning I think.  Time enough for that later. Manana.

Now I have three quilts to use on my beds and one to give away as a gift.  That is my Madeline quilt on the foot of the bed, waiting for Sophie and I to turn in and sleep under it for the first time.  Which I will do as soon as I finish this post.

Nothin' much going on here, so I will share with you one of my favorite things.  A new scent called Daisy by Marc Jacobs. I seem to love all Marc Jacobs perfumes, but Daisy is such a lovely, light, summery fragrance.  Makes me feel like running barefoot through a grassy meadow.  Darn cute bottle too.

Nighty night.

  1. Oh what self-discipline! That’s a lot of stitching – but I’m sure you are feeling very virtuous and glad you did it! Madeline looks just gorgeous!!
House cleaning – yuck, what’s that? Sometimes life is just too short for the boring things….

  3. Applause, applause and well done for getting binding on 4 1/2 quilts! I think my hand would be perma-clenched after holding a needle for that length of time! I suggest a warm soak, Aleve, and lotion for your overworked hands.
Love the Madeline quilt and the fortunate person who will receive it is blessed, indeed!
I’ve never heard of this cologne and will have to check it out. When will there be scratch-and-sniff internet???!
    Hugs!

  5. Oh, to be a cat burglar and tip-toe into your house. Not to take anything – but to leave my quilts that need binding. Maybe by the time you got them done you’d notice they weren’t yours!!! LOL!
My son left yesterday and I have no grandkids to watch today so maybe I can get some sewn on. The hand sewing part I don’t mind.

  7. I remember a previous post about the watermelon margaritas and I thought it sounded like a good idea. I just happen to have a watermelon right now, so I’m trying this tonight!
Your Madeline quilt is gorgeous. I love the subtle colors.
I’m on my third bottle of Daisy now. It’s my favorite!

  9. Glad you had a nice Fourth – and glad you could sit and sew bindings. Your new quilt on your bed is gorgeous. Just imagining you and Sophie snuggling under it together brought a smile to my face! Need to find this new perfume and give it a try.

  13. Madeline looks great on your bed! I love the table by your bed too…pretty. Glad you enjoyed your 4th – mine had a small bit of sewing, mostly stiching, lots of good food & drink and a dice game called “Farkle” with my in-laws…pretty peaceful weekend.

  17. Yeah for getting all the bindings done. If your hubby wanted the house cleaned he could take that on himself! 🙂

  19. The quilt is lovely. And the Daisy scent sounds lovely too. I can no longer wear scents. The fibromyalgia makes me uncomfortably sensitive to odors, especially perfumes and chemical odors. I used to love muget de bois, which was a lily of the valley scent.
    Your weekend sounds marvelous.

  21. I love that you did Madeline as a larger quilt. The stars are so beautiful in the French General fabric. I did the small Madeline lap quilt, maybe I’ll take a cue from you and make another bigger one in a different fabric. Awesome job!
