Our sewing retreat was kind of a mixed bag this weekend. When we arrived, Andrea had margaritas chilling for us, and had made the most delicious gazpacho I have ever had. She also threw together a couple of tomato basil pizzas that we nibbled on. It was the perfect food for the warm temperature–which measured 111 degrees by my car thermometer. My husband phoned and said it was 67 at home in Salinas. That's what we call our Bay Area Microclimates. If you don't like the weather where you are, drive 30 miles and experience something else.
Sara brought her darling little dog Remy along for the weekend, and he entertained us with his funny perky Westie ways Friday evening. He was fine until we went to bed. Sara and I shared a bedroom with Remy, and he kept us up nearly all night long. He had a terrible tummy upset and had to keep going outside to potty.
The next morning, he was much worse, and refused to walk. He didn't want to put any pressure on his back legs. He didn't feel at all well. We became so concerned that we called a veterinary clinic my sister had taken her pets to and got him an appointment to be seen right away. So, Sara and Andrea were gone most of the afternoon having Remy looked after at the clinic.
Kate and I plugged along on our projects, but we were so distracted, wondering what was going on with poor little Remy. The girls got back with him finally, and the report was that he must have eaten something really disgusting and had acute intestinal distress. He had a couple of prescriptions, and after taking his medicine and being pampered outrageously, was completely back to normal the following morning. Thank goodness! Sara was actually hand feeding him little turkey wrapped rice bites dosed with his powdered medicine.
A bit of sewing was accomplished amidst all this drama, and I will give you a picture show tomorrow. Nothing even close to being finished, so don't get your hopes up!!! It was just one of those things.

I can’t believe how much Remy looks like my Lucilu. When they are sick like that, I just want them to be able to tell me what hurts!!! Glad it was a simple diagnosis.

Poor little Remy! So glad to hear he is all better now.
Sounds like your get together was terrific.

Mercy me! Poor Remy. I’m glad he’s ok. Tell him he must stay out of the margaritas from now on.

Hah! I love the comment about keeping Remy out of the margaritas! The poor thing, he must have been miserable. Good news to hear he’s doing better.
You sound like you had a fun weekend, even though it went differently than planned. The best laid plans….
I’ll be watching to see which of those projects you start working on. I’m excited to see how all of them turn out. I was reading another blog a few days ago and someone had made the Toulouse quilt in red, blues and whites. It was so cute!

Poor little Remy – I’m glad it was not something serious, but seeing them in distress is not ever pleasant. I hope you were able to enjoy your weekend despite the drama.

Oh My, so sorry about little Remy! I wonder what he ate? Glad he’s better and will wait patiently to see what you were able to accomplish!
Cheers!

Oh my gosh, I’m so glad Remy is okay. When my girls (a schnauzer and schnauzer mix) don’t feel well I get very stressed too. It’s a lot like having a sick baby that can’t tell you what’s wrong so you worry yourself sick. I can understand why you had trouble concentrating on your projects! As far as getting my pets to take medicine, I was told by the vet to wrap it in a small piece of white bread. It is amazingly easy. They love bread, so they swallow it so fast they never know they got a pill in it (and possibly part of one of my fingers!!!) Anyway, I can’t wait to see the pictures of what you accomplished in spite of the stress and lack of sleep. Hugs to Remy AND please tell Sara “Hi” for me. Hope all is going well for her and the winemaker.

Oh, dang! Sorry your quilting party joy was dimmed by the little doggie, but all’s well that ends well. Looking forward to seeing what sewing fun you did conjure up!
