Moda Blockheads 4 is a Finish!

MBH4 finished (1)

This is my Moda Blockheads 4 quilt top, all pieced and finished. I sure do seem to enjoy these sampler quilt sew-alongs, evidenced by how many of them I have done! The patterns for this quilt were all free contributions by Moda designers and can be found on the Moda Fabrics website in the "archives".

The setting I used was one by Corey Yoder of Coriander Quilts

I don't use many of these colors in my decorating, so this quilt will be a gift to someone who does. I really enjoyed working with these aqua, yellow, and grey fabrics which are colors different from what I typically choose. They are a mix of fabric collections designed by Linzee McCray for Moda Fabrics.

I made it a priority to finish this sew-along before starting up on a new one. I made it just under the wire, as Fat Quarter Shop is starting Sewcialites 2 this Friday. I thought I would use a bundle of Corey Yoder's Buttercup and Slate, but at the last minute, I changed my mind. I decided to go with Lella Boutique's Flower Pot, in the prettiest colors that will go with my decor.

My fabrics are all starched and ready to go! Are any of you participating in this sew-along? What fabrics did you choose?

  4. Hooray for a finish! I love those colors–they’re not in my decor but I do wear them! And, onward to the next sew along! Enjoy yourself!

  10. another beautiful finish! I have made so many quilts that don’t go with my décor. I have them hanging on multiple quilt ladders in the family room and living room plus stacked on a blanket chest. ;p

  13. I finished my blockheads too except for the binding. I did one other but don’t think I will do anymore. I have other quilts I want to tackle. It is fun to see all the different quilts and some very creative ideas. I also just got back from the primitive Gatherings retreat center. It’s a beautiful place with wonderful decor, food, rooms, and equipment and space. Totally worth it.

  16. Whoever receives yourlatest finish is one lucky person. It looks amazing & the colors you choose give it a very modern vibe. I cannot wait for Sewcialites 2 to start on Friday. I am hurrying to finish cutting out a million small pieces needed for the Corey Yoder pattern I am working on. It is one of her new patterns called Fly Away Blackbird and is made with Buttercup & Slate fabrics. I’m also eager for Sewcialites 2 to get started. I think the Flower Pot fabric you picked will look fantastic. It has such great contrast and I love the deep reds & blues. I will be using a collection I had in my stash from last year. It is the Gypsy Soul collection by Basic Grey. I even have the Bella Solids I needed for the accent stars (score). I’m planning on making the 66″ x 66″ throw. I’m pretty excited about so many QALs starting this fall. Pat Sloan is also hosting a couple SALs that I would like to do. So much fun ahead.
    Take care Nicole.
