It felt wonderful to squeeze in some sewing on Sunday afternoon. Not much, just an hour or so, but I really needed the escape. I will be making a lot of flying geese units and quarter square triangle units for the setting layout for my Moda Blockheads 4 quilt. I am pretty excited about it because it is unlike anything I have ever done. For one thing, I am using grey fabric!
I will be making a lot of these two particular setting units, which will surround each block. I think the effect of the grey and white is going to really set off the blocks in the quilt top. The setting is Corey Yoder's of Coriander Quilts . Here is a link with the information: LINK

I had a rather challenging weekend. My father is deteriorating, and we have numerous wonderful helpers coming in on a daily basis to assist with his care. These individuals are kind, gentle, respectful, skilled, and truly worth their weight in gold. Which is pretty much what we are paying the agency that sends them. It is absolutely worth it though, as it keeps Dad at home where he wants to be and helps us out enormously.

Nichole, As difficult and challenging as it is to care for your dad in his home, it is a blessing not just to him but one that you and your family will treasure too. Easy to say but try to take care of yourself and your needs.

It is difficult caring for your father at home but I think worth it. We were able to do that for my mother and step-father as it was their wish, and it was a very comfortable environment. I will be thinking of you.

I’m glad to read that you’re getting some help for your dad in addition to what you & your sisters are providing. Yes, it’s expensive, but so worth it to keep him comfortable & able to remain in the familiar surroundings of his own home. And, some sewing is good to give yourself some ‘down time’. I like this new pattern & the grey!

you and your family with never regret what you are doing to keep your Dad in his home. You are spot on about that setting for your blocks- it does make them just sparkle! Try to keep squeeking in a bit of sewing as you are able – it helps keep your batteries charged up!
