Since I haven't been doing much sewing over the past few months, I haven't been doing much fabric purchasing either. I got a little surprise check recently and decided that acquiring some of the newly released fabric collections would be just the boost I needed to get myself re-inspired to do some sewing. Green Fairy (awesome prices) was having a sale on fat eighths bundles and I bought myself a couple with my wind fall. I find the fat eighths bundles are quite useful. So often when I make a project and use an entire fat quarter bundle, I end up with half of it left over. Not always, but quite often. Since I couldn't decide between two of these yummy collections, I got the smaller amount so I didn't have to leave one out!
I usually love anything by Urban Chiks, and this collection called Urban Cowgirl is no exception. It is full of blowsy prints and plaids and is a colorway I find really unique. How about that yellow with the green and aqua? With a dose of brown to even things out. So pretty.
Another favorite design team of mine is Brannock and Patek. Last year they came out with Lilac Hill, one of my favorite fabric lines ever. Their latest offering makes my heart sing too. This is Farmer's Market.
I really like the pink and the green and the yellow and the red. I always like it when there is a black color way tossed in a group, as it adds a sparkle that I enjoy in my quilts. Not sure how the purple will play with the others, but other than that I think this group is refreshing and fun. And look how many lights are included!
Last, I had to have this red and white group called Redwork Renaissance (Chloe's Closet for Moda), because February is almost upon us, and after all, who doesn't love red and white? (Thelma, you need this…)
This is just so usable. It was a smaller collection, so I sprang for the full fat quarter bundle.
So, have any of you done any fabric with your Christmas money? Or if you plan to buy anything, what would you choose? Share, share, so we can all dream along with you!

Ooh – all that lovely fabric – lucky you to have gotten some unexpected cash. Unfortunately I’m still a bit in the red after paying taxes and christmas gifts – hopefully I’ll be able to indulge in a little fabric therapy next month.
So glad that you back to playing with fabric can’t wait to see what you are going to do with these acquisitions.

It’s a terrible idea, but I’m trying NOT to spend any or not much money on fabric this year. I’ve got enough fabric/kits to last about 3 life times. All of this material/kits makes it so I can’t get to them as fast as I’d like and has added to the stress I’m feeling now, because everything is SO cluttered and I’m out of room. Probably won’t last long, but so far I’ve held to my goal.

Oh! These are certainly yummy fabric lines, patterns, and colors. This is a wonderful use of surprise money! Will you include fabrics from your stash as you turn these treasures into quilts?
Am sticking to my guns in making quilts from my stash this year. Yes I am, yes I am, yes I really, really am … at least so far! 🙂
I’m off to check out the links you added. Thanks!
Hugs!

I love the Urban Cowgirl fabrics. What a great collection. I’ll have to consider the fat eighth bundles. Sounds like a great idea.

I find myself buying fat eighth bundles a lot lately. I even use them for a pattern calling for jelly roll strips or a layer cake! I can cut without pinked edges. And as you said, it goes a long way when you don’t need quite a fat quarter. I bought Urban Cowgirl too – what are thinking of making with it?

OMG they are all wonderful. Yes Thelma needs that red and white collection. Good thing I am north of the border where it costs twice as much and there isn’t always the best selection…..I would be broke!

I never knew there were fat eighth bundles out there, it’s good thing. I love the look of them all.

Nice fabrics, I need some red and white. I am confused how to do the Year of Schnibbles? How do I know which pattern they are going to use for which month? I do not have all of the patterns but would love to play along.

Thanks for the fabric show 🙂 I’m going to have to look for some Farmer’s Market! I just bought some Urban Cowgirl last week. Love It! I’m going to buy a few long arm machine quilting books with Christmas money. I would like to learn how to use my frame better.

Waiting on my urban cowgirl to arrive down under, can’t wait. I am saving up for the reissue of Flea Market Fancy in March.

Love the fabric! I am awaiting the arrival of a Swoon kit and a Blueberry Crumb kit. I made a goal this year to use out of my stash but I can’t help myself when I see all the irresistable fabric out there.

That is the best use of extra money I can think of! Since hubby and I didn’t exchange gifts, I gifted myself some fat quarter collections at a great sale price. Hubby got himself some music supplies, so we are both happy!

Oh yeah, Santa(me) put fabric under the tree for me! I was a very good quilter last year so I deserved it. ;p Santa gave me charm packs of Reunion(sweetwater), Etchings(3 sisters), and some cotton linen blends by Kokka.
