You have seen it in previous posts. This is my Goose in the Pond block that is featured in the Miss Rosie quilt called "Toulouse" that I am working on along with Lisa and Thelma. I only had to make nine of them for the quilt top. Very simple components–you just can't go wrong. Except if you doze off for a bit, as I must have done.
What is that the middle of my pond? How the heck did that happen? Don't worry, I fixed it, but Jiminy Crickets, you would think I would have noticed that humongous mistake before I started to assemble the blocks and lattices.
This quilt has the most ingenious lattices I ever did see. The center stripe of green is not just one fabric, but 15 different ones pieced together, then sandwiched between two white lattice strips. I love it. I bet Lisa and Thelma's will show up even more since they are using some aquas in there along with the greens.
If I had it to do over again, I am not sure I would have done scrappy white tone on tones for the block backgrounds. It is pretty subtle, don't you think? Maybe I could have used a single white tone on tone and been done with it. On the other hand, maybe upon closer inspection, the quilt will be more interesting for all the differences in the fabrics, no matter how slight.
On Saturday I managed to get the center of the top done, and now just have about a hundred flying geese to make for the border.
Sorry my pictures are so light and fuzzy. It is a very gloomy day here and late in the afternoon as I write this. Trust me, the colors in the quilt are very sharp.

Again… you are the best advertisement for Miss Rosie’s quilt patterns…you really do them justice…beautiful! Any thoughts on which ones are your favorites and would be easy enough for an intermediate but impatient quilter?

Well I think it’s gorgeous. And don’t even think your mistake would have detracted from the beauty of the quilt if you had chosen to leave it that way. I love the colors.

I love this quilt. It just might be the next one I make. As many other commenters said, you are a great advertisment for Miss Rosie!

That is a great quilt. I like the different whites, I can tell in your photo, and it does give it something more.

I love this pattern! I first saw it here: http://anyonecanquilt.typepad.com/my_weblog/2010/01/me-trying-to-get-up-.html
At first I thought it would be difficult but after looking at yours closely it’s green half square triangles and red nine patches. I agree, the latice is great.
I’m going to order the pattern now! Can’t wait to see yours finished.

Wow. GReat job, regardless. I’ve been eyeing this pattern for a couple years now. You make me want to rush out and get it. I also made a botched topper this past Christmas. It was supposed to be trees but I had one of the tree tops pointing downward toward the trunk and didn’t notice it until it was (heavily) quilted and given to the recipient. She kindly pointed out my “humility block”.

That is beautiful! I saw that block recently as part of a sampler quilt.
It looks like a very nice quilt for Christmas, with the greens and reds.

I’ve got to get with it, I’m way behind! Don’t you just love it when you spot some fabric you own in someone else’s work? I’ve got a few of your greens in some of my quilt tops. It’s like playing “I Spy”.

Well, a hundred flying geese are better than 480 half square triangles!

How in the world do you do it – produce so many master pieces in a short period of time while holding down two jobs? Maybe if I went back to work I’d be more productive (lol). I must look into Miss Rosie patterns, yours all turn out so nicely.

I am impressed, love the use of the red and green without it looking like a christmas quilt.

That is a gorgeous setting! I have some vintage blocks that I now realize are this pattern. I may steal the inspiration of the pieced lattice, very unique. The different neutrals are very subtle, I wouldn’t have noticed except you mentioned it. BTW, I wonder how the label of this post became Ozzie and Sophie? Cuz I didn’t see anything in the post about them….LOL!

Oh it’s gorgeous already! I like the different tone on tone whites you’ve used for the background. And those lattice strips are fabulous!
