I have been having fun lately with my Filofax planner. Filofax is pretty utilitarian in the style of their planner pages, but with a little embellishment, you can really raise the cuteness factor. I have seen some YouTube videos where people (usually young women under 30) go crazy with stickers and stamping and all sorts of other decorations–almost totally filling up their pages so there isn't any space left to write appointments! I love the concept of embellishing a calendar, but not to excess.
I have even scaled it back a bit from my first efforts. What you need to get started is a product called Washi tape, which I am now certifiably addicted to. The tape is repositionable, like blue painters tape, but comes in dear little rolls in every color and pattern imaginable. You would not believe the choices offered online and in scrapbooking shops. Add in a few cute stickers, and something called "journaling cards" (also available at Michaels and other craft shops that carry papergoods) and you are ready to go to town. A trip to Michaels got me started, but then I went online and went a bit nuts ordering more Washi tape.
My family thinks I have lost my mind, but I tell you, I am smiling.

Oh I too have succumbed to the charm of Washi tape! My stash shows a strong resemblence to yours and it is so much fun to play with. I made a wreath for my front door where I covered clothes pins with tons of different Washi tape patterns and have embellished cards and other crafty items. Hey, it keeps me happy!
PS – the Charlevioux FQ arrived – THANKS!

I’ve read about Washi tape but never looked for a description so appreciate your enlightening post! My family has always said I am a frustrated kindergarten teacher as I add stickers to calendars and would have been great at cheerful bulletin boards. Sound familiar?
Dearie me, do I need this? Oh, yes!
Hugs!

I LOVE planners! I use an Erin Condren one (expensive, but worth it to me). And I want to start using Washi tape in it, too!!

I started using a planner again last winter and have accumulated a stash like you… Now I’m going to give smash booking a try. I’ve collected pretty paper over the years just because and I’m excited to start using it.
