I am farther along with this project than I realized. My Scrappy Trips Around the World quilt now is occupying the prime space on the large design wall. I couldn't leave things alone to be completely random. I decided to use red in each block for the longest diagonal line of squares. My reds vary in intensity, so the effect will be somewhat subtle, but there all the same. I am more than half way through with the blocks, so I am doing a happy dance.
As I look at this quilt, I see a pixilated/mosaic effect, which I quite like.
The Scrappy Trips Quilt Along originated on this website, Quiltville.com. You can follow my link and print out the instructions for yourself. Also, there are Pinterest, Instagram and Flickr websites that have loads of inspirational photos of what other folks have done. Just Google "scrappy trips quilt along" and you will get hours of images and links to ponder.

I like the red … IMHO it ties it all together so it looks cohesive … I’ll be the first to confess that I’m not a fan of totally random scrappy (can easily get too chaotic for my taste) so my take may be a little different than most. 😉

Love Scrappy Trips and agree that the reds bring a pleasant organization to the whole top by giving our eyes a place to rest. The other happy colors fill in nicely. Well done!
When this top is finished, how many quilt tops will you have completed this year? I am in awe.
Hugs!

I like the red, I want to do the same thing but with low volume as the middle.

I LOVE it!! 🙂 Was sick over the last few days and missed the discussion about BBC and Masterpiece shows. Absolutely love all the ones mentioned. Those Brits know how to make a good television show! So much better than the usual network offerings.

I like the red and the pixelated look! – the color palette looks familiar, is it possibly american jane prints? I am working on an AJ print quilt top right now (a scrappy irish chain following my MBS project pattern).

The scrappy red does look great and ties all of the blocks together without being “pushy” about it. Love the look. I’m working on one with all greens, blues in batiks but have gotten bogged down recently. I need to get back to work on it again.

I made this quilt using navy for the longest diagonal line. The quilt was huge but looks great. I think that the pattern is awesome but improved with that one repeat! Your quilt looks great!

I love this scrappy quilt! I especially like the constant of the red. I made one of these blocks in a quilt bee before. I might just need to make one of my own!

I made this quilt a couple years ago and getting ready to make another. I recently picked up the Creative Grids Stripology ruler so cutting for it is a cinch! I am using all batik scraps with the long diagonal any strong color I have in scraps.
