Hey. Not much going on here. Yesterday I worked on the piano key border for my Neptune quilt, which I had set aside for Madeline and Elizabeth. Gosh, this is a cheerful quilt! Puts a smile right on my face.
Love this fabric collection by Tula Pink. It turns out that Tula Pink is not designing for Moda any longer–I just learned that she will now be working for Free Spirit. I think that company should suit her really well, as she will be working with some super talented folks who share her esthetic. Joel Dewberry and Heather Bailey are her colleagues over there, as well as Valorie Wells.
Anyway, back to the borders. I had a jelly roll on hand that I cut into 2 1/4 inch strips and sewed together for the piano key thing. I got the four borders assembled, but not sewn onto the quilt. When I looked at the pattern instructions, I realized that I needed to make four 5 inch four patch blocks for the corner squares. Ooops. I didn't have enough fabric left! I needed twelve 2 3/4 inch squares for the four patches, and all I had was narrower jelly roll strips. What to do, what to do? Well, I did have some leftover 4 inch half square triangles from my blocks….
So, I cut them into 2 3/4 inch squares and sewed them together for my four patches. Very fancy four patches!
That's ok, I like it!
Note: I originally published this post, calling the fabric group Odyssea. Whoops. Odyssea is a collection for Moda by MoMo. This fabric is indeed by Tula Pink, but is called Neptune. Too many fabrics, my mind can't cope.

Oh it’s going to be lovely! The colour combination is really unusual – and I really like it. Your corner blocks probably knock the socks off what the pattern said. Thinking on the run!

I love the four-patch blocks. I bet an entire quilt incorporating those blocks would be stunning.

Nicole, you came up with modern-style “make do” corners! I agree, a very happy quilt.

What a clever idea for the corners! That would be a great block for a scrap quilt too. This is going to be a very happy quilt.

I like your quilt a lot. I’m bewildered, though — I made a top from a line called Odyssea and the fabric looks NOTHING like yours! See: http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_a89E6VQeHnc/TCqszkZxegI/AAAAAAAAEAE/cO-LKS4qo6k/s1600/DSCN2214.JPG

I think the corner pieces are gonna make it POP! Even though I am a beginning quilter, I am seeing the need for a creative mind…especially since as a beginner, I make many mistakes….looking forward to seeing the border on the quilt…

Great idea! They’re so cute. I love that fabric line (and Tula Pink). Can’t wait to see what she does at Free Spirit.

That is probably the most stunning fabric i have EVER seen… I love it, and it looks even better when sewn up into your corner blocks.
