Oooh La La!

004

While the cabinets were being refinished, I holed up in my sewing room.  Two great things happened.

One, I finished a stunt sewing quilt top that I have been dragging out.  Big sigh of happiness.  Such adorable fabric, and when you see how cute this quilt is, you will want to make one too!  But, shhh, I can't say any more right now!

Two, I finished the Samurai Squares quilt pictured above!  I did have nearly all the blocks made (except for 4), so after getting those done, all I had to do was cut out setting triangles and borders.  In about five hours the top was done!  This one will go to my niece for a graduation present in June.  I think the quilt will suit her well.  There is something of French Chic about this one.  Maybe it is the Eiffel Tower fabric in a couple of the blocks, or maybe it is the black and white color scheme–with just that dash of pink.  At any rate, I think this is just perfect for a lovely 18 year old girl.   Ooooh la la!

If you are wondering about the bathing beauty to the left of the quilt top, she had to come down off the wall in my bathroom while the work was being done on the cabinets in that room.  Oooh la la again.

And here is the scene in my kitchen just before the place got tented over for the re-laquering of the cabinets.  See the side of the island, in the foreground of the photo?  That uneven streaky surface is what happens when a home builder uses a cheap product and doesn't prepare the wood properly before laquering.

And here is the finished bathroom, with bathing beauty back in her place.

Such nice workmen, and the cabinets look better than new!!!

  13. Love the quilt and your speed in sewing this quilt together is amazing. Well done!
Your bathroom looks great and the kitchen will soon. I have to ask what is it with home buyers expecting perfection in a house before they’ll consider buying????
What is the name of the block used in Flowers for Clara? I love the quilt and have looked through Barbara Brackman’s Encyclopedia of Pieced Quilt Patterns and didn’t find it. Yes, I had Jiminy Cricket singing the spelling of “encyclopedia” in my head! Shades of the Mickey Mouse Club!
    Cheers!
