Oooooh, never too early to start thinking about Halloween. I have to say I am more in the mood to work with red, white and blue fabrics right now, but I have to plan ahead if I want to get a few things made and shipped off for quilting.
I'm telling you, these blocks take f.o.r.e.v.e.r to put together. Like more than an hour. What you see above is three "blocks" (an orange one, a green one and a light one). Each block has a star section and a bat section. Not for beginners, for sure. None of the steps or components are particularly complicated, it is just laying out all the units properly and figuring out which fabric goes where takes some time. Don't you love the result though?
The pattern is Night Flight by Basic Grey and the fabric is Hallo Harvest, also by Basic Grey. I bought it last year and didn't make much progress, only completing two of the block sections. The pattern makes a lap-sized quilt, but my idea is to make at least three table runners made up of five of the block sections you see above in my photo. One for me, two for gifts.
I do love that fabric. It is kind of Halloweeny, kind of grungy, and totally fun. Sorry to tease you with it. I doubt you can find it anywhere at this point. You can definitely get the pattern though. I will say that the pattern instructions are not that great. I am having a hard time following them, probably because I am making one block at a time. The cutting instructions are for cutting out the entire thing at one go and it is just so complicated. I am just studying the pictures and figuring things out a step at a time.
Hope your week got off to a good start. It's been a cool June here so far, but I suppose things will heat up way more than I'd like in no time.

What a fun fabric line for Halloween. I think it will make a great table runner. And no, it’s never to early to work on Halloween projects…as I sit here eyeing the Christmas quilt that I sewed the binding on last night!

Placement is important but the spooky fabric is just perfect for that project! Runners are a great option & fun to share, too! It’s never a bad time to make a Halloween quilt! As the t-shirt labels say, “Do what you like & like what you do!” Stay well!

I fell in love with it and bought the kit last year. Looked at it once and put it away. Decided it was too complicated to sew at a retreat. Maybe I’ll get to it later this year. Thanks for the warning.

I remember this! Really adorable. The weather has been so lovely here for several days….why does it have to turn hot?

I made this quilt last year. I loved it. It turned out great! My daughter snagged it from me, so I ordered enough fabric to make another. Haven’t even attempted the 2nd one yet, but I will….someday! Your’s is looking great!
