Thanks for all the offers of sympathy after my bikini waxing incident. I have decided that once one reaches a certain age, a bit of hair on the upper thigh is not going to be noticed. By anyone.
And the glass of wine in the picture was for medicinal purposes AFTER I caused myself the injury. Just so you know. Mmmm hmmm.
The quilt you see in the photo above is Opening Day, a pattern by Miss Rosie's Quilt Company. A fabulous pattern, that deserves to be made more than once. I used a not-so-Christmassy looking Christmas fabric called Roman Holiday by 3 Sisters for Moda. What a dynamite combination: a Miss Rosie pattern and any fabric designed by 3 Sisters. I have another quilt in the pipeline to be quilted that is that same magic combination—Summerwind by Miss Rosie using Wuthering Heights by 3 Sisters.
The quilting on Opening Day was done by the awesome Debbie of Prairiequeens. This quilt is going on my bed for the entire month of December! Sure wish I had used my Fit to be Geese ruler by Monique of Open Gate when I made this quilt!
Sophie and I start our second week on our own in the house. Last week went just fine, with us girls striking up a rhythm of meals, exercise, sleeping, and snuggling. No more home beauty treatments for awhile though. I succumbed to eating junk food quite a bit, which has got to change this week. I plan to make a pot of some kind of yummy soup to eat in the evenings, along with a little salad. It is amazing how easy it is to resort to fast food or something pre-made instead of taking the time to thoughtfully prepare a proper meal for oneself when alone. Hey, I'm worth it!

I love Opening Day!!It’s 9 degrees Celsius and windy outside this morning and I’m really wishing I could stay home and make a pot of soup and sew today (I might even bake some buns) I know its not easy to eat properly on your own but you’re right, you’re worth it!

Opening Day is very pretty…I own a Statler and would like to know what E2E pattern/designer was used to quilt your quilt. I like that motif alot.

Yes, you’re worth it – look at last week as being a lead in to a new life style. Whenever my husband was away on an extended contract overseas I tended to gorge on junk food the first week or so and then settled into a more healthy routine usually managing to drop a couple of pounds in the process.
The quilts are gorgeous.

The quilts look fabulous! I’m working on my Schnibbles and am using the Fit to be Geese method (don’t have the ruler yet) and I’m loving how accurate the geese are turning out. It will go much faster after I get the ruler to trim down to size. At last a method to get those beautiful flying geese into a quilt without losing my mind!

Opening Day is a great pattern. I really like the half-sawtooth stars around the border. And the bright vibrant colors against the white are so crisp and clean. Enjoy it this December!

Love your quilts! I have the pattern for Opening Day and am now motivated to make it! But I am waiting for my Fit to Be Geese ruler to come in the mail, so will just sit tight until it comes, as it sounds like it will make life much easier.

Opening Day is one of my all-time favorites! I loved it even more when it came back from the quilter. I’m sure she will do a fabulous job on your Summer Wind quilt, too – can’t wait to see that.

Yes, you are worth spending time cooking a good meal! I have needed to tell my daughter that lately too.

I dearly love that quilt using Roman Holiday. I just want to kick myself for not buying that fabric when it was out. I am going to order one of those handy dandy rulers though! That in itself will make life so much easier. Have a good week Nicole and little Sophie too!

I forgot to tell you that I have the second one started that you did above with the same fabric but it’s another project put to the wayside.

Beautiful quilt! I bought this pattern because I loved yours so much. I have so much free time since the passing of my 29 year old daughter in July 🙁 but I can’t get my mojo up and going. I love your blog and can’t wait to see what you come up with next. I am thinking about beginning my own blog about quilting, baking, gardening and decorating. I sometimes don’t know what to do with myself. I was with my daughter and cared for her 24/7. I feel like I need a new outlet and maybe blogging is the answer. There are so many great people out here in the blogging world.
Thanks for the inspiration! Maybe you can give me some tips!

I just love Carrie Nelson quilts! I featured one today on my blog. I have a little stash of Roman Holiday, and this gives me a push to get it out and use it up in a Miss Rosie quilt!

Both quilts are drop dead gorgeous! You are very talented. Of course you are worth the extra effort of a home cooked meal! How else will you keep your strength up to crank out all of these amazing quilts!

Congratulations on another gorgeous finish. And I know what you mean about the fast food – a weakness of mine when I’m on my own too.

Wow, those quilts are stunning! Were they time consuming to make? They look it!
My hubby is out of town this week, I had zucchini soup for dinner. It’s fall weather here, good soup weather.
I hope you and Sophie have a relaxing and healthy week.
