Cupcake Mix Papers
Hello friends. I hope you all are having a good week. I've been busy with homeschooling, so not much sewing action is going on. I did get into the sewing room for a couple of hours, though. Pre-cuts have been on my mind from our discussion earlier this week. I am itching to get into…

Log Cabin Paper Piecing with Honey Buns
Here is something new I picked up recently. Fat Quarter Shop is offering piecing papers in a couple of different formats for common quilt blocks that call for accuracy, such as Log Cabin and Square in a Square. The Log Cabin papers are recommended for use with 1 1/2" strips, or the precuts called honey…

American Pie in Progress
On Sunday, I put together nine or so of the American Pie blocks I've been working on hit or miss this summer. I found myself vaguely dissatisfied with them and can't put my finger on why. Do you think I should add another color or two into the mix? I've got red, rust, green, brown,…

Cheesy Leek Galette
There has not been much recipe sharing around here, so I thought I'd show you something I made recently. I thoroughly enjoyed making this Cheesy Leek Galette. It is a Pioneer Woman recipe called Cheesy Asparagus Tart. I don't eat asparagus, so I made some necessary changes to the recipe. It seems pretty forgiving, so…

Quilts to the Quilter
Three little runners off to the quilter. Two are fallish, one is for Christmas. By the time I get them back the sunflower one will be kind of out of season, but I will definitely use the maple leaf one for Thanksgiving and the red/green/black/cream/gold one for Christmas. And Cinnaberry is the other quilt going…

Piecing the Past Comfort & Blessings Finished
Finally finished! I got the borders on this quilt top at last and am so happy with the results. This was a summer block of the week sew-along called Comfort and Blessings by Piecing the Past quilts. And it was free! If you want the pattern now you can get it, but there is a…

Not Too Bad
Well, this turned out somewhat better than I had expected. With backing and batting and quilting, the light green background on this pumpkin table runner does look darker. My quilter used an adorable pumpkin vine quilting motif in green thread, which enhances the green background. It is still awfully subtle, but I guess it is…

August Book Reviews
I finished nine books this month, most of which were good, one of which was excellent. I read four physical books, four Kindle books and one audiobook. As usual, this will be a long post, so grab your beverage of choice and settle in. Here's my rating system: 5 Stars- amazing, incredible, highly recommend, will…

Quickie
This post is a quickie, not the block. This block is Moda BlockHeads 3 block #33. And it was a doozy for sure. I am not afraid of curved piecing, and in fact, rather enjoy it. This block, however, was a challenge. It was designed by Brigitte Heitland of Zen Chic and is called Walking…

Shine Bright Runner
It's almost September, so a Christmas project is in order, don't you think? This is Shine Bright, a pattern by Kansas Troubles. Lynn Hagemeir has been the designer behind Kansas Trouble Quilts for over 25 years, and I think I have admired her that entire time. I love her pure color palette, her crisp designs,…
