I think this is such a pretty fabric group. Park Avenue by 3 Sisters. I often have issues incorporating blues into my quilts, but this little touch of pale aqua is going to work in just fine. A nice accent, not at all dominant. The super dark espresso brown really pleases me, and you all know how I feel about red. Woo hoo. The pattern is actually the project sheet Moda offers as a suggestion as to how to use the fabric line.
I liked it. For my birthday, I received a gift certificate to Fat Quartershop.com and this is what I chose. The fabric cuts are mostly one yard and half yard cuts. My friend Lisa (Stashmaster) says that this collection puts her in mind of Chocolat, a previous 3 Sisters group. I think she is right. The colors are similar, but different in tone. The browns are darker, the caramel is replaced by the murkier tan—similar, but different. This group should be showing up in your local fabric shops this next week, so give it a once over in person. I think you're going to like it too!
So, keep an eye on me. This project is going to be coming right up on the Must Do List. Along with a little something Thelma has suggested (more on that forthcoming), and a new stunt sewing project.
I have been slightly under the weather this week, and have not done one lick of sewing. Saw the doc today, and no biggie, she wrote me a prescription that will put me right as rain. My husband is, of all things, going fishing with some guys this weekend, so I will be on my own. No worries, my sewing room will keep me occupied. I should be feeling 100 percent by then, and need to put the border on my Neptune quilt, and get the center medallion finished on my Stargazer project.
Oh, and I do have a few bindings to sew on, don't I?
I just discovered a nice new blog, Joyful Reader, a blog by Diane. She quilts, she reads, she has super cute grand children. Go check her out, and pay particular attention to her book lists. She reads a LOT and has some good recommendations. And if she reads something and doesn't like it, she'll let you know that too!

I just love that fabric – I too have issues with blues, but the aquas in this are so pretty with the browns and reds. I can’t wait to see your start on this. And hope that you’re feeling better so that you get a lot done why your husband is away.
And I’ll definitely check out Diane’s blog. I love a good book!

What pretty fabrics! Have you noticed that fabric designers do vary the color shades just enough that collections and older fabrics are harder to match well?! Methinks it’s a plot!!
DH will be away for 4 days in July and I’m already making plans …
Hope you feel better quickly!
Hugs!

Thank you for posting a picture of this line up close and personal. It’s wonderful. It definitely reminds me of Chocolat – very sweet, as well.

Love Park Avenue!! My daughter treated me to a FQ bundle for Monther’s day and I have another one headed my way from my sister.
I honestly don’t know what to do with it yet but I’m edging towards making my own Elizabeth!

Blue is a really hard color for me, I rarely use it, but agree that the 3 Sisters know how to use blue in their lines! Very very pretty. Nice way to spend your b-day present.
Has hubby got back to work too?

Thanks for the shout-out on my blog.
Park Avenue has that wow factor that I love – I haven’t met a 3 Sisters I didn’t like yet!
My husband is gone for the next two days, and I hardly know where to start – I’m so excited to sit and sew, sew, sew.

Their fabrics are just stunning in every collection 3 Sisters comes out with. Hopefully tomorrow my Park Avenue quilt kit from Fat Quarter Shop will arrive. I am currently working on an Aviary and Elizabeth quilt kit using the Aviary and Wuthering Heights fabrics. I absolutely MUST have anything from 3 Sisters…they are my favorite! Looking foward to seeing the progress on your quilt. You do such beautiful work.

I saw this range at the Sydney Quilt Show and fell in love with it. I’m saving for a fat quarter bundle.

Is that the pattern you are going to use with your Park Avenue, or are you planning something else fabulous?
