Play With Color

003

There is a certain new book out that has me planning several quilts.  I got my nose out of it long enough this weekend to start auditioning fabrics for one of the projects in it.  I plan to blog more about the book and my project next week, but today I thought I would give you some little teaser tid bits.

Aren't the colors in this Bali Pop, "Grasshopper", beautiful?  I adore batiks for one main reason:  They let you just play with color.  You don't have to worry about prints or directional fabrics–just pure color and value.  They bring out the artist in all of us.

I couldn't help myself.  I just had to start cutting, and before you knew it, I had all my strips for the project cut out.

And then, don't you know, one thing led to another and I had to start piecing those units together.

I promise I will share more with you next week.  This project is going together like a dream, and you will want to make it as well, I just know it!

Thanks to all of you for your wonderful comments to Thelma and I on our Belle Meade quilts.  That was a labor of love, and I doubt that I would have gotten through it so quickly without Thelma's encouragement and enthusiasm.

  1. I know EXACTLY how that goes…once you get inspired, you just can’t help yourself and you have to start sewing to see how the blocks are going to look! Love the fabrics and can’t wait to see which project you are making!

  7. OHHHH – I have Grasshopper Bali Pops and looking for a pattern. You are such a tease. Can’t wait until you can reveal the name of the pattern/book. I have ordered Scrap Basket Sensations in hopes that maybe a pattern in there will work. Judy C

  17. I bought one of those Bali Pop bundles for a project and can’t wait to use it. I haven’t sewn with batiks for a while, but I love to. They “move” differently than regular cotton, if you know what I mean. Luscious!
