I recently bought a few more notions at Fatquartershop.com. One of them is this cool seam roller by Riley Blake. It is designed by Lori Holt and is actually a very nice little seam presser. It cost $15, and I am glad I bought it.
It works great for the times when you want to press a seam open but want to kind of squish it in place before you apply the iron.
I've been using it with my Log Cabin paper piecing and found it to be really good. As a matter of fact, I don't even need to use the iron as I attach the strips! This little wooden seam roller is all I need. I have been rolling it on the wrong side of the block, and then on the right side of the block, as shown in my top photo.
And here is my finished Squirrelly Girl table runner! I made twelve paper pieced Log Cabin blocks. Still debating on whether or not to add a border. This will probably be a Christmas gift for someone, who will use it on their dining table. Maybe I need to get some more cute border fabric….I am imagining a border of about 2" all around in one of the white prints.
Gosh, this is such a cute fabric collection. It is going to sell out, so if you think you like it, I highly recommend getting a layer cake at least!
Hope you all had a nice weekend. We have been warned that our power company will shut down our electricity Sunday afternoon through Tuesday afternoon. It is very dry conditions and the wind is kicking up, which makes for a real fire danger. My husband has the generator all gassed up and everything ready to move into one refrigerator. It is so inconvenient but considering the alternative…I am going to try to get these posts scheduled so my content won't be interrupted.

Your table runner turned out really cute. I think it needs a border, too. A light print border and a dark print binding would look finish it nicely.
I hope that the shutting down of electricity will prevent fires. Inconvenient for sure, but you’re right – the alternative is much worse. Stay safe.

Your table runner looks great. A border will make it even better!
Thanks for the tip about the roller presser. I recently attended (by Zoom) a workshop where it was also recommended. Have to get one of those!
Good luck as your power goes out. Stay safe!

The roller looks like a handy tool–thanks for sharing! That Squirrley Girl fabric is adorable! Getting the generator ready reminds me of living in Florida preparing for hurricanes. It’s necessary, but not fun. Be safe & stay well.

looks like a wallpaper seam roller.
if not, that might be an inexpensive substitute.

I am doing the Pineapple Paper blocks in 12″ finished using both the roller and the add a quarter ruler. I never thought I would be happy with the roller vrs. ironing, but my blocks are turning out great! Your table topper is lovely. Stay safe. I’ll bet you are so glad for the generator! PS Quite a while ago I asked you what breed Ozzie is. I am scheduled for pick up of a Wire Fox Terrier in less than 4 weeks! So excited!

I think I need a roller presser! Good thing you have a generator and I hope the power cut does keep the fires from flaring up around you.

I’ve used a roller for several years for paper-piecing. I love that tool.
I love that fabric line but I’m saving my pennies to buy the new Heather Ross fabric coming out in November….who can resist a surfer girl? ;p
Stay safe and thank goodness it is cooling down. Colorado got snow which is helping their fire-fighting. This has just been a rough year. 🙁
