Ahh. What a wonderful weekend I had. A vacation actually. My husband, Ozzie, and I went up to Granite Bay to stay with my sister Andrea and her husband Rick. Seriously, they should just open up a Bed and Breakfast for weary hardworking people such as my self to escape to. We keep trying to come up with an idea for a family business, and this idea has been right in our faces for years.
Andrea has been a bit obsessed with tarts lately. The edible kind, with a crust and some yummy sort of filling. She made a couple of them over the weekend, both of which were sensational. Go check out her website, Under A Blue Moon for the recipe, and better photographs. The tart pictured above is a Ratatouille Tart, which I think is a misnomer because it doesn't have any eggplant in it. Never the less, it was delicious. The recipe involved two kinds of summer squash, red onions, red pepper and goat cheese. The photo above was taken just before it got popped into her oven.
This is what it looked like after four of us had our servings.
The next day, my brother in law Rick went out onto the property with a big ladder and returned like a conquering hero with fresh apples from their tree. Andrea was delighted with the bounty, and vowed to make an apple tart for dinner on Saturday.
My hands must have been shaking with anticipation when I took this picture. How delicious does that look?
Let me just say that disappeared in to time. I only gained a pound over the holiday weekend, which is better than I deserve!
Corn salad.
Wacky home made bread. People criticized this, if you can believe it.
Delicious assorted grilled things. Oh. And that baked potato, with sour cream and chives… I just don't know what to say to do it justice.
Just the best get away ever.

She gets super car sick. No fun at all to take a barfy dog on a road trip.
Ahren did take a chance and put her in his truck and took her to the beach.
She stood up front with him and got to look straight out the window, and
didn’t get sick. Of course it is only about 8 miles to the beach from our
house, so it wasn’t a long trip. She loved the beach. She got along with
all the other dogs and really wanted to try to catch the sea gulls. Ahren
didn’t dare let her off the leash though. Knowing her, she would have dived
in and swam up the coast to Santa Cruz!
Ozzie had a blast chasing Andrea’s cat Belle all over the place, and when we
went to Sara’s on Sunday night and Monday, he and Remy played like mad.
They are such buddies.

I’m so glad that you had a wonderful time. Of course, I notice the tablecloth!
When can I make my reservations? Seriously!

That apple tart looks divine. Pretty enough to be in a magazine. Did you get any sewing done? I’m excited to see what you worked on this weekend.
